In your opinion, why did they get rid of the position?
The optics speak for themselves.

I’m sorry but frick New Orleans.
So you’re ok with Landry interferes with local elections as long as it’s in a city you don’t live in but also don’t like?

But hey, New Orleans wants a special election in November to fill the "novel" consolidated position of Clerk of Court.
So is Calvin Duncan going to run for this position?
Sounds like some people are pissed their little corrupt ring go eliminated and want their guy in there to keep it going.
The black caucus is having a bad couple weeks.

Why was orleans parish the only parish to have 2 distinct clerks of court?
Why did people just start caring ? What coincidental timing !

Who cares.
Who cares that Landry is interfering with the outcomes of a legitimate election? Why doesn’t everyone care?

You don’t have a legitimate government

There’s some logic to consolidating the position (although innnew Orleans having own person so civil and criminal gives me pause) but 1000 % it was pretextual and purely a vindictive move.
They could have passed the legislation to take affect after Duncan’s term but they wanted to make sure everyone understands this is a purely political move.

You can keep saying that but it doesn’t change anything.

I figured as much. I doubt most inside NOLA even care.
If they even know. Everyone who knows what happened cares.

You do realize the Clerk of Court position is controlled by the state, not the parish, right? Landry didn’t unilaterally eliminate the position himself. The Louisiana Legislature passed a Senate bill through the normal legislative process, and it was signed into law.
Why are you so stupid?
Posted on 5/9/26 at 12:40 pm to 4cubbies
why am I supposed to care about this?

Because Landy is Hitler or something
How dare he eliminate waste and make NOLA have one CoC like every other parish!

Paying for an election and then immediately undermining the results of the election is eliminating waste? Brilliant.
