21 to 30 year olds are for the most part too distracted. It’s all about them. 17 social media apps. Casual sex. And running a family is work. They’re not into it.

Seems like this is a winner. Ding ding ding.

You think my wife and I had a lot of money saved when we had kids? Not a single penny in our savings account. You fricking MAKE IT WORK by putting in the hard work and just doing it.

I feel like too many people 21-30 years old just quit. "Oh this is kinda hard, lemme go take a selfie and bitch about it on tiktok and instagram."
Having a family with numerous kids is hard. Maybe it's not for them and maybe we all should be thankful they're not reproducing?

Yep. Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we die. Of course, given the extraordinary influence and power of the prevailing cultural (hedonist/narcissist) paradigm over young minds, it's virtually impossible to raise children minus the negative effects. Parents would have to essentially isolate their children from society.

This dysfunction can not last.

So be it. Home school your kids and make them play sports so they aren’t completely socially awkward. Restrict their internet access and don’t let them use social media until they are responsible enough to handle it.

Your kids might grow up to be frick ups, all you can do is ensure that while they are living under your roof that you parent them to the best of your ability. Society is sick and they need to be sheltered from the lunacy of modern Leftism.

Whenever I visit my brother in Houston (lives in the Heights), I’m astounded by the amount of wine aunts with dogs.

How many generations are we talking here? Seems like the answer would be dependent on knowing that.

One could probably argue Gen X was better off. I don't know how you justify that in any other group.

Too expensive nowadays!

Bull shite!
Poverty in the USA is middle class in most foreign countries.
Materialism is the correct answer.
If its too expensive why are the poorest folks having children.
Psychologist Jordan Peterson predicted the low birth rate would bring catastrophe by 2050.
Educated women would rather own a pet than give time to child rearing.
That is a recipe for an eventual decline in society.
When raising any breed of animal, you breed the best to the best to improve your herd or your pack of hunting dogs. You don't hunt your best dogs and leave the culls at home to mate and have pups.

If I had waited a couple more years to start my family, I probably would've decided against it. I just don't like what I see when I think about the world my kids are growing up in.

Those families in the 70’s also kept a garden. Rarely ate out. Didn’t have a maid or lawn service. Sent kids to public schools. Didn’t take many vacations. Oftentimes only had one car. The teenage kids were expected to have a job. No travel ball. Saved money for a rainy day. Kept cars for 7-8 years or more. Houses were 1,500 sq feet usually with one bathroom.

This was us in the early 80s. Prime interest rate was 13.5 but were able to get "bond money" at 2 below prime because we were first time home owners. Add to the above and we both worked in a hospital. Purposefully worked opposite shifts so we could minimize child care. I think our first home was more like 1650 with one and a half bath, I think. It might have been one bath but I'm kind of remembering a half bath off of the wash room. Didn't think much of it at the time because we were in apartments for several years and never had a garage. But none of the houses in this new subdivision had them.

Add to that as a symptom, fewer people in the work force is going to mean a higher percentage of their paychecks will go to the ponzi schemes that are SS, M'Care and M'Caid. But all of you that are working today; Thanks from the bottom of my heart. But all the money I put in over the years is long gone, so I am depending on all of you to keep my comfortable lifestyle going.

We need to go back to finishing school, debutante balls, and gentleman suitors lining up. How many post college 25 year old women would've taken that option. How many father's would prefer that for their daughter rather than send them out to college and hope for the best. How many successful single men wish they had that

Today. This moment in time. Sure. But we're not discussing a single data point.

Just like every other generation, Millennials will see their prospects ebb and flow. Yes, today I would not be buying a house, but there'll be great opportunities to do so in the future. And why didn't you buy your home ten years ago when assets were severely undervalued?

It's basic math.

It is. And 2+2=4 today just like it did 50 years ago.

Since then, both the middle class and lower class have seen a steady decline in marriage, reaching 66 percent and 38 percent, respectively, by 2018. In contrast, marriage in the upper class has held relatively steady, dropping from 82 percent to 80 percent. The middle class, along with the affluent, used to have the highest marriage rates. Now, it is just the affluent.

There's multiple factors at work here, economic opportunity has shrunk for the middle and lower class and expanded for the upper class. This leads to the more financially stable people to hitching with other financially stable people.

College graduates marry college graduates, doctors marry doctors, lawyers marry lawyers. Prominent NE old money children marry the sons/daughters of other prominent NE old money families.

Celebrities marry celebrities, athletes marry athletes and celebrities.

America resembles a CASTE system more than a meritocracy or classless society.

Rich kids live around other rich kids, go to school with other rich kids, interact with the parents of other rich kids, go on the same vacations as other rich kids, attend the same colleges, work at the same companies.

Rich kids and poor kids do not hang out.

The pace we're going the US will be a neo-feudalistic society.

I hate to say that but all the evidence points in this direction.

Just look at the entertainment industry, sports, business. Read the stories of the CEOs, the athletes, who their parents are, where they come from.

Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawkes daughter stars in Stranger Things.

Tim Hardaway Jr., Larry Nance Jr., Gary Payton Jr., Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins. Etc. All of them had a father who played in the NBA

Look at football, Arch Manning is the #1 football recruit, the grandson of Archie Manning and nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning.

Jennifer Gates married the son of man worth $150milliom who was big into equestrian. Equestrian is a sport almost primarily for the rich.

Who represented the US in the Olympics for Equestrian? Bruce Springsteen's daughter.

Go through universities.

Larry Page married the daughter of a world Bank employee who is also the sister of a somewhat known actress.

Zoe Kravitz, who has acted in a lot of movies is the daughter of Lenny Kravitz,a famous musician.
