Either government will do the censoring or companies will. There is no neutral 3rd party

The government has had this in place for a long time already, and no one has put the kibosh on any liberal or conservative sites yet.

But if companies do it consumers will have the option of changing providers to a company that won't be doing any limiting. If the government does it, there are no options.

Companies know this. That alone will make them reluctant to do something that will cost them subscribers.

Do you have any idea what the acquisition costs are for each new subscriber for an ISP/cable company?

It's why if you want to reduce your ISP/cable cost now all you have to do is call your provider and threaten to leave. They will usually fall all over themselves to keep you as a customer.

That's why I get free HBO, free upgrade for faster internet speeds and a $20/month "loyalty" discount (whatever that is....).

AT&T is one of the largest ISPs in the country, who is about to acquire CNN.

Even if I accepted this as 100% unadulterated fact..........the choice would be BRAZENLY obvious.

What if the top ISPs consolidate and then there isn't just another option to turn to?

T is looking to compete with Google and Amazon both have market caps over $500 billion, T is slightly over $200 billion with a shitload more debt than Google or Amazon so T is trying to remain relevant by acquiring TWC. If you're a Comcast, VZ, T-Mobile, etc. shill I can understand your concern.

Did you know that once, Phil Donahue asked Milton Friedman if he would be cool with Sears and JC Penny merging? And Friedman said "yes"..........and liberals lost their fricking minds.

True story.

I'm not a fan of any of them

But if you ok with AT&T controlling the flow of information then, that's on you.

Exactly! It does not take an MBA or marketing degree to know if an ISP is gouging their customers that most people are going to switch to another ISP and that will become much easier as the carriers transition to a wireless based distribution system.

Define a long time because I don't consider 2 years a long time. You do know that it started in 2015 right?

What it comes down too is I don't trust our government to do what is fair/right over the long term. At least in the free market then supply/demand will decide what is fair/right.
