re: Nissan may be on the verge of bankruptcy- Is this a harbinger of what's coming to America

Their product line is very boring. Every car and SUV all look alike except the Frontier and Titan. Some argue it's because of the CVT transmissions they've been using that contribute to this.
This sums up 90% of their problems.
Their internal corporate structure is also part of the problem that started with Carlos Ghosn 15+ years ago. Full of sycophants and arse-kissers.
If you don't spout the company line, or speak out, you get black-balled.
Dare not say "we might need to rethink what we are doing".

Yet the Heisman House is rocking along.

Stelantis is in real bad shape.
Not long ago, there were about 270 days of ram truck inventory just sitting.
Yeah they had something like 6 or 7 of the slowest selling cars in the country
It's not just the Ram trucks for them unfortunately
On a related note I recently drove a newer Ram truck for work and liked it more than Ford or Chevy

I dated a girl who had a 260z. What a ride. Her car was nice, too.

I’m sure some Chinese investor would love to help them. It will give China a wedge inside our economy.

When you continue to make shite cars like the Altima and Rogue with a shitty CVT transmission that has never been fixed, then eventually, even the most hardened fans will walk away from a particular brand...

I bought a 240z at the start of covid and restored it.
All I associate with the newer Nissan/Infiniti's is the damn CVT trans. Won't buy one of those again.

The Infiniti Q50s don’t use the CVT. Just their QX SUV lines.

Long time lurker here.
Signed in, just to say it's all because of the CVT transmissions, and their hard headed decision to stick with them.

Maybe some, but more likely the core business is suffering. Rogues,Altimas ,Pathfinders, etc. Nissan have maybe one of the worst variable transmissions that end up going out sometimes at less than 60K miles. It's a problem for them they've known about the problem for a decade and they've been resistant to really redesign it. Also bad paint jobs as well as a "fritzy" electrical system in the Rogues and Muranos.

The current Z has 350 days inventory.
The best car they have…and nobody knows it exists. People that do probably think it has a CVT that will grenade in 4 years.

The perception is that the Frontier is the only reliable product that Nissan makes now that the Titan is gone.
Going to sound crazy but Toyota dealers seem to be swimming in Tundras and Tacomas too. IDK if Toyota reports the inventory levels of those vehicles, but they have a shite ton of them. Toyota has had quality issues lately with their trucks, but that may not be why this is happening.
By contrast, you don’t see that many Corollas or Camry’s on the lots. That might be what people are demanding at the moment - affordable and fuel efficient.

quote:I was looking for a camry last year for the wife (no pics) and they wanted 5k over sticker and didn't have a single one on the lot. I bought her an accord hybrid with no markup and it's been a great car except for the stupid 19" low profile rims and tires. I'll swap those to 17s when it's time to replace the tires. Dunno why everyone wants to turn family sedans into rough riding ricer trash but wtfe

Would hate that. Nice, reliable cars.
There’s a certain demographic that loves buying used beat up infinitis to try and stunt on everyone. You always can tell when they probably got it from “Saul’s Used Car” lot corner store lol

Dodge gonna corner the market.

Hondas CVT send to be more reliable than Nissans but I've never been fan of the idea in general. It works great on go carts though
