I think you’re missing the point, which is that these people were mostly illegal entrants to our country. In that case they CAN’T do whatever they want.

I’m not “missing the point.” It’s their money. We either have private ownership of the wages we are paid for our work or we don’t. If I want to send my money to Trump, or a televangelist, I can because it’s my money. If I want to send it to a cousin in another country, I can because it’s my money.

Everything you wrote there is right on except for “I’m not ‘missing the point’.”

The laws protecting private property are for citizens not for illegals.

This is not about “illegals.” This is simply about money sent by international transfer. Morons are mad (for some bizarre reason) that people who are working in America are sending money to Nicaragua. That is ridiculous.

And even “illegals” who are paid wages are entitled to use their money however they want. Private property is private property.

We don’t truly have this, else we wouldn’t be taxed.

Sounds like you need to start a new country on an island somewhere.

Interesting how you don’t believe in taxes yet you drive on roads and live in communities with utilities, police, fire protection, and other services that taxes pay for,

Really, it may be that you are living in fantasy land.

This logic looks really weak when you consider "their money" exists because my tax dollars have gone to pay for all of their expenses.

Edit: It's the same logic used by teens demanding to be "treated like an adult" while living under mom & dad's roof & paying zero bills

What the hell is the “we”? There are illegals and there are citizens. You’re a citizen and send money to Central America, fine.

What happens is the illegal comes here, works under the table, then sends 60% of it back home. The govt doesn’t get their tax on it and the money is not spent here with our businesses. It goes to another country’s economy. That is money that is just leaving our economy and not coming back, It is ridiculous and every remittance should be hit with a 40-50% tax/fee.

You cry that it is your money, but it doesn’t matter. If the government says there will be a fee and then lets the bank keep a piece, there won’t be a damn thing you can do about it.

In the end, no, it’s not your money, wages, land or anything. The illusion of freedom is just that.

You’re a frickin idiot! So illegals come here, work, get paid under the table, don’t pay taxes and then send their untaxed illegal compensation to their home countries while my tax dollars pay for all their shite while they live here makes perfect sense to you????

Wrong. It is about illegals. If we get rid of the illegals the money being transferred is not material. People write casually in posts, but this is what they mean. Let’s give you this: Foreigners who are here legally should be free to send their money wherever they like, just as Americans overseas should be able to.

If someone works, is paid wages in exchange for work, they can do whatever the hell they want with the wages they earn. If they want to send money to grandma in Nicaragua, they can. Its none of your business.

How does a remittance tax keep them from doing what they want? There are taxes on cars. Does that tax prevent me from spending the money I earn on a car?
