Widespread censorship of the internet by a government has now come to the West. In the wake of the attack, New Zealand has implemented some incredibly authoritarian policies.

- 10 years in prison for possessing the video of the shooter, 14 years for uploading it.

- ZeroHedge has been DNS banned in New Zealand.

- Dissenter has been instructed to comply with "censorship complaints".

- New Zealand police demaning IP/email addresses for people discussing the attack online.

Tim Pool just uploaded a video covering this - LINK

This is a classic case of :

a. something bad happens
b. govt is told 'DO SOMETHING'

History teaches us that 'doing something' is often worse than 'doing nothing.'

And to think leftists championed "free speech" for years while defending so called offensive speech. They have now become the proponents of censorship.

Outside the United States, the west is full of authoritarian leftist dictatorships.

It's unbelievable to watch western-based countries engage in this kind of censorship. Say what you want about this country, but we're the one that consistently gets it right the most.

The only reason it isn’t here yet on a widespread scale is that we still have our guns.

Why would anybody want to watch a video that their Government tells them is objectionable? I just accept whatever They tell me . But then again I’m not one of these crazed Individual Liberty nuts always talking about their stupid rights. Uncle Obama taught me that.

FORWARD!

I think when you give this guy the views of his atrocities you become in a small way, part of the loop. You become a tiny bit player in what he was attempting to do , which in my humble opinion is Mass Murder Performance Art. I don’t want a ticket to that. But to each his own....

Proxy and VPN services are not protected and you are a fool if you think they are.

Steps to remain anonymous online.
use public wifi with a yagi antenna from 1/2 mile away.
Only use a manufactured brand computer made before 1993 or build your own from parts.
All motherboards and CPU's should be bought with cash.
Never use the same public wifi.
Use a variety of different network adapters and switch between them.

Now if you want to use proxy servers make sure you use a different one each time and preferably use multiple hops.

Never use your name or any identifying information on the computer you wish to use online.

Preferably run a live cd or thumb drive to boot your computer so that it cant store information.

Don't establish patterns of use.

Why do you want to watch it so badly? Curiousity? I don’t understand what’s fun or interesting about watching innocent people die.

He's actually correct about this part.

As I've said in other threads, SSL decrypt is a thing.

Are child pornography laws “censorship” too?

This is more along those lines that trying to quell political discourse.

I probably stop watching after the first kill. But why are they such a protected class that the video is being white washed from the net. I came across a video of a school shooting video in Mexico by chance (liveleak) and it was freaking kindergarteners, wtf how does that not get wiped out?

Because everyone knows that most Muslims are violent and blood thirsty, the other 70% doesn't care about it either. They do nothing to effectively squash.
