NYT - aside from liberal filth, they are historical projecting revisionists. Praising the Russians on the anniversary of the moon landing....shameful.

This deserves its own thread.

The Soviets tried to win the hearts and minds of the “downtrodden” by actively promoting members of the “downtrodden” groups in highly-public ways.
How is it remotely debatable that the Soviets did this? Why is it even one iota controversial to acknowledge that the Soviets did so?
Some people just spend far too much time looking for things to complain about. Maybe some of you folks need to re-watch that video about the female filmmaker who had to re-examine her preconceptions about male rights activists.
Um, how about writing this piece on ANY day but today?

What were their names? Any pics?

I worked several years in Russia. The average Russian male is the most racist, sexist and homophobic person you could ever meet.
Of course, with a family name of Kolchak, you probably already know that....

An example of that is what happened to Yuri Gagarin, the first man in outer space. He had become critical of the Soviet system and had told close friends he planned to renounce the government for bribes and other corruption surrounding the Russian space program.
Gagarin was killed when his MiG-15 training jet mysteriously exploded and crashed five weeks after his closest friend and fellow cosmonaut Vladimir Komarov was killed in the fatal crash of Soyuz 1.
Soyuz 1 was the first crewed flight of the Soyuz spacecraft. The flight was plagued with technical issues, and Komarov was killed when the descent module crashed into the ground due to a parachute failure.

Guess they decided to gloss over how the Soviets practiced genocide by starving about 10 million Ukrainians.
Yay equal rights.

Yuri Bezmenov (former Soviet spy who defected to America) said in 1983 that the Soviets usually pushed minority rights to create a crisis in other countries (i.e. to divide and weaken them). He said "After we roll our tanks into a country we occupy, we will simply round up all the gays and shoot them on sight even though publicly we claim to support gay rights."
He mentioned how they did this in Latin America. They rounded up a lot of "allies" who helped form the communist governments down there and killed them. That's why they're called useful idiots. They are useful but also expendable.
The Soviets were also behind the Vietnam protests in the 60's. They funded most of the activity on college campuses. They didn't want America in Vietnam because they wanted SE Asia as a communist stronghold.

What would one expect? The NYT article was written by Sophie Pinkham of the Hebrew persuasion.

Funny because the progressive s will abandon the gays/blacks/Hispanics the second after they get power.

Funny part is, the NYT was pro-soviet union back then too!!
