I don't really know if it makes a difference. But the person I was responding to said because he was antifa that's why trying to kill him was okay. So it seems reasonable to ask why you know they're in antifa in that case.

Unconstitutional, pretty clearly. If someone wants to support communist candidates/policies and wants to achieve it legally, through democratic means, that is their right. If they are trying to overthrow the government that is different, and already illegal.
