I found a good chart of this after my brother started spewing the same global warming/hurricane correlation nonsense...and I see ZERO pattern with them as well plus I am sure we are able to locate more of them now than before we had certain technology but it is interesting to follow the charting:

No effing way I am staying on that tiny island in a Cat 5 hurricane.

And data like "damage" and "deaths" are essentially worthless since it's based on a whole slew of factors unrelated to weather.

Otto was barely a Category 1 and Earl was a 2/3 when it hit his island. He's in for a rude awakening.
Earl had about 110 mph winds when it hit Virgin islands, so basically it's taking Earl and adding another hurricane's worth of winds. Good luck with that one.

Imagine that, Puerto Rico had one this strong 100 years ago.

According to the NWS, Irma is the strongest storm ever in the Atlantic
So what? That said, are they claiming a cat 5 is a first ever event in the Atlantic??

There are these new weather events caused by AGW! We shall call them hurricanes.
There is no debating or reasoning with these people. They have completely ignored the fact that there hasn't been a strong hurricane in what, 12 years, then immediately blame climate change when it happens. It's almost like they are relieved when a natural disaster hits.

Maybe we should start a Richard Branson watch thread? He is posting to twitter: LINK

How long have we been able to measure and classify hurricanes the way we do now? How old is the earth?
Edit: just read thread. Of course this was thoroughly covered.

Wasn't there a global flood back in the day? Was that because Noah and them were driving diesel trucks instead of hybrids?

"Trees"? Is that how you gauge a hurricane...trees? Never mind the deaths, suffering and damage. How fricking stupid. There will be plenty of trees for you to hug.

Why are you so stupid? We did have deaths. We had plenty of damage too. He said a major hurricane hadn't hit the US in 12 years, I was relaying that last years was pretty rough. You're one of the angriest and unfortunately dumbest people on the board.

Harvey certainly fed off a warmer-than-normal gulf.
I'm sure I'll get downvoted even for that statement around here.
