Folks, we're at McShanes Irish Pub and Whiskey Bar on Michigan Avenue, just outside of downtown Detroit, and 40 miles east of Ann Arbor.

First off, any Tiger Fans nearby? Hit us up.

More importantly, this place is a locally famous sports pub, with 15 TVs in a big area that could hold 125 easily. #18 Michigan is playing at #21 Minnesota in the Wolverines' opener and their B1G opener, prime-time, national TV, with very nice weather.

THIS PUB IS DEAD!!

There's at most 20 people in here, with 7 of those at one table. 75% of the tables are empty.

The waitress explained it's because Wuhan/Covid has "deadened everyone's spirt" here.. everyone stays home... but she mostly justified it. In fact, she's from Georgia but doesn't want to visit her grandparents there because "that state isn't enforcing mask laws." She said this WHILE pulling her mask from her face, which wasn't covering her nose anyway, so she could be heard better.

I have a few more observations I'll add, based on other other conversations today... BUT there is a HUGE segment out there that completely rejects our worldview and is terrified of this over-hyped, minimally-dangerous virus.

The fear created by Leftists governors is real, and a real challenge to us patriots!

I have seen and heard this same bizarre sentiment from other Blue Staters whose Governors have scared the living daylights out of them about the China virus.

I have family in Brooklyn. They are terrified of covid. But the science says for their age group there is little to worry about.

Muh science when convenient.

Kinda sad to be so terrified of something with a 99% survival rate for your age group. Some people are so brainwashed.

This is accurate. Same vibe in Madison.

It's like 2 different worlds between the red and blue approaches to the virus.

My Republican elderly parents have flown across country to Florida for a vacation.

My Democrat mother in law has not been inside another building besides her apartment since March. Does not do her own shopping.

Liberals treat this virus ultra seriously. And they mock those that dont.

Crazy to me that people willingly sit inside for almost 8 months now ...

Seriously .. she does know people were out transmitting it in January and February as well right?

It didn’t start in mid March at spring break... yet most folks were fine until the lockdown then everyone got scared at the exact same time

75% of tables empty. I bet DUIs are way down up there.

This is why Biden is focusing on Covid and that message likely carries the Rust Belt for him

40,000 a year die in car crashes and another 400,000 are injured, many maimed for life, yet no one even thinks about not getting in a car.

The thing is, it just seems like the Atlantic coast south of the Mason-Dixon line attracts the very worst sort of Yankee. In fact, he is beyond a Yankee; he's a Carpet Bagger. All our coastal islands, like Hilton Head, St. Simons, Jeckell, Amelia, Jax, Ponte Vedra, St. Augustine, and on and on have been thoroughly infested by them. I 'spect about 85% of them are Biden all the way too.

BTW, Trump ain't no Carpet Bagger, not by a long shot.

My liberal mother down in conservative rural Georgia has much the same attitude. She's making my brother and his family miserable. Glad I'm not down there right now.

My liberal relatives in Austin are frightened as well. Their kid is doing classes at home and they work from home staying in mostly. It's ridiculous. I've been going in to work throughout this and my kids are in class full time and engaged in sports for months now. Been on a few vacations as well. The only difference I've experienced is wearing a mask.

We traveled and camped at over 10 different state parks this summer. Been out in the boat at the lake place all summer. Grabbing takeout. Swimming in outdoor pools.

We adjusted and played it safe but still did a ton of stuff.

I talk to many coworkers who literally have not left town since March. Sad. And telling. And they all vote Sleepy Joe.
