"Potch" Didier was re-elected as Avoyelles Parish Sherriff while he was IN jail.

Not the same but Oliver Thomas went to federal prison for taking bribes while on City Council in Nola.
He got out a few years ago and was recently elected to City Council.

For the textbook, clinical example of what's out there and voting, and proof that for the most part politicians are extensions of their constituencies, we win the prize right here, which will ring down through the ages.
With gratitude and respect to our Orleans voters and Dollar Bill Jefferson who was elected, not while he was under indictment, but after he was actually convicted for bribery.
No other voting bloc can hold a candle to that.
Intuition says that our highest law enforcement official D.A. Jason Williams probably would've paralleled Jefferson's situation had the timeline been the same.
He was found innocent, while his partner in crime was convicted. Go figure.
His legal problems were an asset to him for re-election with this bloc of voters.
Just as with Oliver Thomas who is odds-on favorite for mayor.
Lots of great things ahead for Orleans.
