In our checks and balances system, neither branch has free reign to go unchallenged when they overreach which is clearly going on here by The House. The Judicial Branch needs to step in and put an end to this naked political hackery going on by Nadler, Pelosi, and the gang. Screw that, they can't just do as they wish...

Why doesn’t Barr just show up and ignore if anyone other than Congress asks a question?
Or say something like “you do not represent The People, therefore I have no obligation to respond “

Because it defeats the purpose of an oversight committee hearing, where only congress and witness are to speak. If the Dems were serious, they'd have the attorney write opening questions, then write follow ups as the hearing is going on and have the members ask them.

My understanding is that this procedural set up hasnt been used since either of two instances that have been cited...Watergate or Iran/Contra hearings. Nadler cant provide any basis for utilizing this barely used procedure. Let's just say there have been quite a few momentous and contentious hearings between Watergate or Iran/Contra and now, this setup having not been used for any.
What's the motivation behind this disparity?? That's the type of question and curiosity that tips us normal people off immediately. And the kind of question that rarely if ever is answered on this board.
