I just found out that my SIL is one of those. She won't let my brother or niece eat ANY take out food (she doesn't cook, so I guess my brother is doing all that). My neice is on lock down and hasn't seen a friend since the governor closed the schools.

How the frick you gonna catch anything sitting on the beach? Women are so irrational

Sunlight, heat and the outside air are perfect antidotes for the Covid, making the beach, an ideal place to go.

I showed my wife the video of the Australia protester being ripped from her kid for not going inside (violating quarantine).

“It’s not happening here. Don’t care” was her response.

Then I told her about the mandatory ankle bracelets in KY if you were exposed.

“Good” she says. “People don’t need to be going out if they have this thing, and preventing people from going out is the only way to stop the spread”.

Then i said, “ what if you had it. They gave me an ankle bracelet. I take the kids to the store and I’m caught. I get ripped away from the kids. Now it’s happening here”.

She got a little frustrated and said “if I had it, none of us is leaving to infect others. We order delivery for everything”.

Shes apolitical and hates all politics in general. She doesn’t understand civil liberties and constitutional rights obviously. Think the government is here to do good.

My mother in law.

She is past paranoid over this. She had a fit of rage that we went out to eat over the weekend.

There is only one liberal that I know of in my immediate family and friends circle. She is an old school liberal, not a progressive sky screamer.

I have acquaintances and people that I know that are more liberal and their is no reasoning with them about Covid-19 or many other topics.

Even a faith-based Believer will be relatively "uncertain" what will happen after death, Rev. I c-clamped a scaffold board on the back end and walked out on it 50 feet high to do some necessary maintenance...and because I had never done it...felt uncertain. But just like the truth of Numbers - or the Truth of Spirit - there are times when one has to make a binary choice. Belief/Faith in the Idea of God...is one of those choices. Because there are some things which if you don't believe in them...the don't become real. Love and Beauty are two biggies.

Tell you SIL to read William James' "The Will to Believe", if she's serious about her Atheism (non-belief), if she finds (subjective) belief in things that are essentially Subjective...to be problematic. Or she can continue with the nightmares, which are in fact...totally warranted. The loss of Love and Beauty, is indeed a nightmare scenario.

You should reach out to her with that...in a calm and helpful way.

It will destroy her.

PS...tell her you know a Believer (Christian) that has hugged a LOT of trees. And that has shed tears while sitting on the trunks of very old ones that got the saw.

My mom is a panic hound about it. Former teacher, becoming more liberal by the day. She is a germaphobe and this virus is her living nightmare.

My dad, obese cancer survivor, smoked for 40 years, diabetic. Former foundry worker. Did two tours in Nam. Squarely in the most vulnerable camp. Goes to Lowes and Walmart at least 6 times a day.

My wife has shared her faith with her sister many, many times, and she is not only uninterested, she is downright blasphemous and vile in her response.

I know.

It will DESTROY her when you point out her fear is based in her lack of belief. Live a little.

I’ve got really no problem with either of them, when I get irritated is the ones that fall between. Those out and about at Lowe’s etc working on prettifying their house or yard while bitching about the workers in Lowe’s not wearing masks or standing too close. Those working saps that are deemed essential and yet the villains to those who are scared but not scared enough to actually stay their arse at home. I’ve seen variations of that rant multiple times on Facebook and it annoys the fire out of me.
