But why do you have beef? They petitioned and it was denied. Was there a demonstration or something I missed?

well Ramadan dates are not set and change by the lunar calendar, so they didn't know the dates at the beginning of the year
Come on baw. They could have raised this as a possibility at the beginning of the year. They may not know the exact dates, but they have a pretty good idea. If they did raise it and their objections were not acted upon, totally different story.

Yes. I would be willing to bet that if you looked carefully, most if not all of those same students do not adhere strictly to the rules of Ramadan.
Kind of like Southern Baptists taking a weekend trip to another city and having a few drinks and dancing?

OMG!

You Muslims are a bunch of hypocrites. In one example, you state Islamic Jurisprudence in regards to Ramadan and the restrictions that come with fasting . Crying you are restricted from dancing in Ramadan. But the fact is in Islamic Jurisprudence dancing is restricted completely !! This is a contradiction at best and hypocrisy at worse ! You guys are Trolling. What's next ? A petition for a cry of Justice that Dominoes Pizza is offering 50% discount on their pepperoni pizza on June 3rd when it's Ramadan ?! But if they offer the promo May 26th then TAKBIR !!!! All people, Muslims included, can enjoy the 50% promo !! You guys are trolling change.org or are being paid by liberal democrat organizations to create "fake news" to counter Trump's bullshite. I can't decide which. Either case... epic fail

some of the comments on the petition are fun

Well...

quote:
“You’re not supposed to listen to music during Ramadan, so it’s not really allowed,” Shabbir said.

If you read up on Ramadan, there are a lot of things thta are forbidden to do. However, in many (If not all) cases, they allow those things to be done in moderation. Certain foods, for instance. There are foods that are forbidden, however, they allow you to partake if done in moderation.

Look, I could care less about what they eat, or if they listen to music during Ramadan. In fact, it reminds me of some Christians who Fast. It is a reminder of their faith.....so good for them. But the students are painting it as if they cannot attend, when they clearly can.

HAVE ALL THINGS IN MODERATION

If you really must have parathas and pakoras, limit them to a once-a-week treat rather than a daily indulgence.

Keep in mind, the reason the say they cannot listen to music is because fasting is extended not only to food bu other activities as well. And they make allowances for everything. And it isn't marked by Fasting as we know it. They are allowed to eat certain foods and encouraged to do without unhealthy foods.

Not all foods created equal

they can't listen to music during ramadan or eat/drink before sundown ... and wish to abide by that religious requirement (like other religions wish to do) ... so they petitioned ... and lost ... and now they 'must assimilate or be liquidated' because they simply petitioned ... therefore, religious restraints are not to be tolerated if outside the boundary of what we call good ol american value ...

so the rules against dancing on baylor's campus were ok since it was southern baptists making the rules, but now the muslim kids to 'assimilate or be liquidated' and get into the spirit of prom during their religious month and should not be allowed to petition for a change ...

you rubes grab every double standard you can, don't you?

did you even read the article?

You do realize the lunar cycle does not change, right? It is not constant, but it is consistent. Here is a list of dates for Ramadan through 2032!

I'm well read on the topic. I assert that your points are not important to the discussion.

It doesn't matter what they can eat, how much music they can listen to, or if they have to wear certain colors at certain times. None of that is important here. None of it.

So during Ramadan we can just crank James Brown up to eleven and it will act as a natural Muslim repellent?

The things you learn on this board. No telling how many lives you just saved.

My points are made because people are making them and I am refuting them....so yes. They are important to the discussion as others make the points.

It was the Muslim kids who made those points. Not me. THEY said they could not eat or listen to music. I merely refuted those points.
