Tesla CEO Elon Musk is opening his Fremont, California, plant and has reportedly told workers they can choose to violate California’s stay-at-home orders or be placed on “unpaid leave.”

VICE News reports that Elon Musk’s Tesla plans to open its plant in Fremont, California, and has told workers their options are to violate the state’s stay-at-home orders and come to work, or stay home and forgo payment and benefits.

In an email obtained by the Guardian from Tesla’s management to its workers, the firm stated: “Choosing not to report to work may eliminate or reduce your eligibility for unemployment depending on your state’s unemployment agency.”

I have a feeling Tesla's will be made in Texas inside of 5 years. It's kind of funny that he is even thinking about Texas considering the kerfuffle in the beginning with selling Tesla's here.

Telsa is about to fold. That is the only reason this guy is doing all this all of a sudden.

What law would they be violating is the germane question. The answer is the fiat of their dictator Gavin Newsom. There is no law.

They have over 8 billion in cash. They are in way better position than any other US automaker.

Does Texas still have the law that prevents car dealerships from being open on both Saturday and Sunday? I remember they could only be open on Saturday or Sunday.

Not the good thing we would think it would be.

I'm leery of Musk, is his threat to move more about moving West Coast libs into Texas in larger numbers to help turn more of it blue?

Yes. Most dealerships choose to be closed on Sundays, though.

wasn't that collusion by all the dealer associations that couldn't handle someone ordering a new car over the internet?

like how the taxi companies tried to put uber and lyft out of business?
