FWIW, and I know it's not much - Mr Carton is one of a very small number of posters whose opinions are worth the pixels it takes to display them.
Even when I might disagree with his specific position on an issue, I always pay attention to his takes, particularly on foreign policy matters. He seems to be the grownup in the room most of the time.

He got this immunity because he was (seemingly) truly serious about immigration. He is losing it now because of his embrace of more legal immigration.
Even with a weak Democrat field, Trump will have a tough time winning again if he is perceived by MAGA folks as softening on immigration.
And that’s a bone to pick with the rah-rah crowd here. Trump is not synonymous with MAGA. If he abandons the core principle of putting America and Americans first, then what’s the point of supporting him?
I’m not saying he has done that, but he’s given reason for people to doubt.
