No one has done more to fight against the abuse of children than President Trump. I trust his instinct here.

I have what most on this board would consider a dire case of TDS..and even Im surprised by Vance and Trump's defense of this ad. Vance especially....he isnt a moron. At least I didnt think he was moron. Defending this ad in this manner with the current facts on the table.. WTF are they thinking.

I have no problem with meritocracy over entitlement.

And as far as our education system goes. Most of my grandkids are homeschooled, they are far ahead of other kids their own age and they spend only a small fraction of the time in "school".

Our schools have become a daycare center where teachers are only focused on the test scores, on tests which have been made easier and easier to get through etc.

Except Amy Acton's mother. Don't believe her.

I mean the judge who removed Amy from her custody clearly didn't. Dad leaving the state to escape charges doesn't help either.

I’ve also read the mom subsequently plead guilty to theft by deception or something in the 90’s. Seems like a real scumbag, but that’s who we’re going with I guess

Yes. The button says Acton. Defiant L’s typo’d the posts

That’s all.

We know, boomer. Your generation has been pushing this lie since Reagan. Look at the result.

I'm not a boomer, my parents were boomers. I'm Gen X.

The DOE started in 1979 and has been the downfall of our education system.

In other words, you're complaining about losing the race on merits and are now resorting to entitlement via heritage.

So yeah, look at the result of the things you support. I'm glad I missed most of it.

This is incorrect. You’re ignoring my argument to frame yours.

Meritocracy is a lie. Standards are not universal and are changed to accommodate any number of factors. You’re pretending that because inner city government schools are failing this is an indictment on education and merit for America and its students entirely so you can justify importing millions of foreign workers and students. To further accomplish this, you’re in agreement with Vivek that our history is irrelevant.

What are you talking about? I don’t support the DOE. I never claimed I did. The opposite, actually. If you weren’t a product of government schools perhaps you’d be capable of responding to the actual points I’ve made instead of ignoring them to push your narrative

One of my biggest problems as a developer is dumbing down things so that the average human can comprehend and use the software.

I'm not pretending anything.

And then there are people much smarter than me. They aren't products of the education system, they are those who went beyond it's low standards.

Exactly what is "our history" that is irrelevant?

The DOE wasn't formed until 1979 and it's affects were limited and grew over time. The biggest grab in power actually happened under Bush in the early 2000s.

In other words, I was lucky enough to grow up before education turned shitty.
