Hell. You can chase them out of your neighborhood.

Just don’t try to stop them.
And for sure don’t pull out a gun.

Especially after all the race incidents in the last 15 years or so. When I was young, I would get involved in road rage at times, I would get mad if someone cut the line in traffic, etc. Now if I see an unstable idiot driving a car, I just back away and let them go, not worth my time, if no one is physically threatened by it.

I don't recall Ahmed running over anyone with his car. I don't think he owned one.

No

People standing up and protecting each other, and their communities, is a virtue. It’s something we should encourage.

We are circling the drain if our response to a suspected crime is to curl up in the fetal position, and cry, mom.

You can protect your neighborhood without chasing people you only suspect of crimes through your neighborhood with guns.

The law simply requires more than "suspicion of a crime" when it comes to a citizen's arrest. I can't begin to imagine any and every ole joe legally able to confront with a gun any person whatsoever who they are "suspicious" of for possibly having committed some sort of crime. Every wannabe cop patrolling the streets looking for suspicious activity and being able to detain any person. They most definitely seek to avoid such a scenario with the more restrictive citizens arrest laws.

Problem is there would never be an arrest, thus no bail. Police aren't gonna stake out new homes, nor are they gonna look for someone unless given eye witness evidence of theft and a license #. These clowns were foolish and will pay a heavy price. But understand that no society will flourish if citizens don't take some responsibility for their own safety and security, and that of their neighbors.

That's another factor. White guys in pickup trucks have been vilified to hell and back. While those guys may have thought they were righteous.. that young man probably thought it was the end of the world.

If I saw 2 brightly colored low riders chasing my arse, they stopped me and 3 armed black guys got out of the cars. They may come with righteous reasons, but my first thought would be "oh frick, gangbangers. I'm dead."

I don't disagree in principle, but in a society that is increasingly trying to handicap or outright eliminate any form of law enforcement, you can expect incidents like this to increase.

People want law and order or they are not going to live peacefully together.

That's a good way of looking at it, point taken.
