Al.com in typical fashion is showing up to save the day claiming it's part of an extortion attempt.

So they’re saying it was a secret recording? Doesn’t change what he said though. Regardless if you agree with the way he said it, he’s 100% correct. Montgomery is a microcosm of politics right now. Along with really any blue city. Regardless of how good or bad you are, you’re going to get 40% of the white cuck vote and damn near all the black vote that turns out. He’s one of, if not the first to be on a recording saying it. And no, nothing will come about this or change.

Really don't care. He should resign.

His dad was one of the most corrupt political figures this area has ever seen and I expected nothing less from him. Like his pop, Steve is smart and knows this town. All of the money and trust fundies living in Cloverdale and trying to cram breweries and boutique shops into Cottage Hill and downtown will vote for this guy. The yankees retiring early from Maxwell and working on their second retirement from the state will vote for this guy. The black vote will go 99% for this guy. Meanwhile, Montgomery has exploded in crime numbers. He talks about whites moving? Outside of the aforementioned Cloverdale money, east Montgomery money and a few hipster stragglers on the fringes of Cloverdale and Capital Heights, they're gone. Prattville was beginning to explode when I moved here. Millbrook and Wetumpka are growing fast. New money is flooding into Pike Road. The public school system in Montgomery got busted a few years back for blowing millions of tax dollars on parties and strippers. But Steve invoked Maxwell AFB skipping town and got taxes hiked for "education" with little difficulty. He thinks he's rebuilding this town on professional race hustling. Southern Poverty Law Center and their split-off EJI are getting fat building museums and education centers and it does draw in a lot of out of state tourism, but this town would go from 60-40 slum to about 90% slum practically overnight if the air force closed shop here. Now he's waffling. He already invoked George Floyd as his defense and after a presser and a lot of veiled racism accusations, the local press (and any likely any national picking this story up) will be heralding him as Obama Junior. Again.
Perfect summary.
His dad really is one of the more despicable people in state.
Reed is terrible. He’s a douche. A Woodfin wannabe. The sad thing is that Montgomery could do much…much worse.

quote:Commonplace in the South? This is common everywhere minorities are the majority and vote Democrat at a 90% clip. Everywhere that is majority minority and is Democrat run, has a crime problem and education problem. The mayor, in a very blunt way, stated the truth. He doesn't have to do anything and he will still get elected, but the problems will increase exponentially due to the people with financial resources moving away and spending their money elsewhere. People with families and the ability to commute for work, will choose a place with good schools and low instances of violence. Montgomery as two Air Force bases. Maxwell is home to the Air War College. They have officers transferring in every year. Few chose to live in Montgomery.

Here's an anecdotal example of exactly what the mayor was saying. In 1999, when I moved to this area, Montgomery had a very large mall on the southern blvd. It was thriving at that time. Loiters started to congregate in the parking lots, and crime went up. The merchants started losing business, so they complained to the city who really loved the tax revenue those places generated. The cops became more vigilant about controlling the loiters and large congregations of people in the parking lots. Then, the citizens started complaining about increase police presences, so the city caved to political pressure. The mall closed not long after that. Nobody wanted to go to a place where they felt unsafe. The mall is now a fire department and a police station.

Thanks for the firsthand testimony. I expected it to be something like that.

And this is exactly why people are moving to Prattville and Pike Road.
The problem, especially in Prattville, is that a lot of well meaning families that move here from Montgomery bring the crime with them, because their kids “friends” come over to visit… and decide to steal a car or rob a gas station while while they’re here.
Look at the crime stories in Prattville, and 90 percent of the time the perps are described as “Montgomery Residents “ or “Montgomery Youths “ in the press.

Montgomery Mall’s days were numbered when EastChase was developed and then it became the “other mall.”
Montgomery has been downhill since Folmar was voted out. Sure, the city was somewhat stagnant but the trains ran on time so to speak.

Emory Folmar was a good mayor. Montgomery thrived under his leadership.

Yeah. It was a beautiful mall, too. It probably would have eventually faded as all malls have, but I clearly remember at least one gang shootout in that mall that slowed the traffic considerably. Now it ironically houses a police precinct.

School system took me to Prattville and that was before the East South Boulevard became a complete cesspool. I drive through Montgomery now, and it is scary bad.

Much like Baton Rouge white liberal voters are responsible for putting people like this in office. I don't blame black voters.

He's definitely not wrong.
Black Democrats don't need politicians to do anything. Just being a Democrat is enough to solidify their votes.
White Democrats may kiss his arse even more because he ripped on them...white Democrats get a thrill out of being humiliated.

Oh my. Wow. But hey he’s not wrong.
If you’re white and still live in the city limits of Montgomery you need your head examined.

Watched Reed’s PC. He claimed that he was being extorted by some hustler who was threatening to start riots during the Floyd stuff. Reed then went on a Cam Brady like rant blaming the media for reporting on an out of context and doctored clip.
I actually believe the guy. If anyone knows what extortion looks like….it’s Joe Reed’s son.
