Was out riding bikes with the kids this morning, and saw folks out mowing the grass at a BREC golf course.

Either this is a dangerous virus and we should stay at our homes except for essentials, or we should have crews out running the weed eater at the golf course. Both things can’t be true.

If we’re not working can we social distance and play a few rounds? I need my golf course well groomed.

When the golf course is overrun with rodents after an extended period of zero maintenance and your neighborhood is infested. You’d be the first to clamor about the issue.

I believe the golf course is the original "Social Distancer".

1. Is a serious virus for the old and already dead i.e. meaning having pre-existing conditions.
2. Its a nothingburger for rest of the population, generally speaking, most people probably won't even have symptoms especially the younger.
3. Its not the zombie apocalypse.
4. People 65+ and older with pre-existing conditions might want to self-isolate, for everyone else... it would be very bad luck to die from it especially if they don't have pre-existing conditions.

Its the flu+ at best, no its not fricking serious to the general population at all... probably less than the flu... besides the groups mentioned above.

Oh.... and basically the whole population either has it or will.

So you have a problem with people out in the open just like you and your kids were? I think there is a difference between mowing a golf course and sitting in a cubicle farm in some office when it comes to spreading this virus.

Well I mean if they aren't up each others arse using the weed eater, is it really any difference than being at home?

They keep saying stay 6 feet apart, I think a grounds crew of a golf course can manage that. The course is quite big

Were they wearing those cheap paper masks? I have one I use every spring for the first mowing. I don't know if it keeps out the virus but it sure works at keeping out the tree pollen that's fallen into the grass. I'm allergic to tree pollen.

If you have an issue with people doing manual labor, why are you riding bikes?

Instead of "fore" yell "six" as you play through.

I’m not talking about the actual danger posed by this, which I admit is low to quite low. I’m talking about the hypocrisy and the conflicting message this sends.

Government is going full court press telling everyone to shelter in place, but then requiring folks to show up and perform some of the least essential services possible.

Just a FYI, BREC closed their pro shops. The only staff working are grounds crews to prevent the courses from becoming overgrown and causing another public-health issue as well as the massive cost of bringing an un-maintained course back to good condition.

I am just a simple caveman banker, but it seems that social distancing would be easily accomplished riding a mower or running a weedeater on a big arse golf course.
