Just a FYI, BREC closed their pro shops. The only staff working are grounds crews to prevent the courses from becoming overgrown and causing another public-health issue as well as the massive cost of bringing an un-maintained course back to good condition.

That extra 1/8” of grass on the fairway is going to be hazardous to health and cost a lot to remedy?

I’ll be honest, there are waaay more folks logging on to support the coordination of policy from JBE and Broome than I would have thought.

If you don't maintain a golf course for a month+ it will be way longer than 1/8".

And yes, even just the re-bunkering due to the overgrowth would be way more costly than paying a few guys to keep mowing.

Agree 1000%. You’re also not going on TV to tell people to stay home unless absolutely necessary because lives are on the line and then paying people to leave their house to run a weed eater.

You’re the only one actually arguing the essentialness of the groundskeeping. That’s debatable, but I see your point.

Most people are just saying they’re not hurting anything. I have never once said I think they’re endangering anyone. Just pointing out that it seems incompatible to tell folks that they can’t run their businesses and then not prevent your own folks from doing some pretty non-essential work

The mixed messages are in the form of one person telling us we’ll all be back to normal in a few weeks, Congress passing a multi-trillion dollar stimulus to help float the economy for a month, and state governments canceling school for the rest of the year.

The timelines don’t add up. Either this is getting better in time for Easter or we’re settling into the new normal until August.

US GDP in 2019 was $22 Trillion.

This shutdown is about 11% (6-weeks) of the year. Which would be $2.42 Trillion.

Government is going full court press telling everyone to shelter in place,

That is not the case everywhere. Washington State is in a shelter in place, however the Governor specifically said going outside for exercise is a good thing as long as you can maintain social distancing.

Cancelling school but continuing free lunches in the cafeteria.

Sending government employees and welfare recipients checks.

There was not a pause on the GDP.

While a lot of industry has stopped, many are still working.

Given my golf shots, agreed.

I have the "Sean Hannity Slice"--my ball goes to the right and usually to the far right.

I know. But I'm using it as a reference point.

$2T isn't terribly far off of what the ultimate impact to GDP will likely be.

Either this is a dangerous virus and we should stay at our homes except for essentials, or we should have crews out running the weed eater at the golf course. Both things can’t be true.

That's not even a little bit true.

Y’all have convinced me. This crisis is worth tanking the economy, but it’s not worth a couple days growth on the fairway
