You do realize there is a large Chunk of voters who will move on from the Republican Party if the issue dissappear off the platform. Maybe you can replace them, but it's something that needs to be considered.
It's the number one issue for Catholic and Evangelical voters, and Catholics just went the highest spread in decades at 60-40 for Trump
Evangelicals were over 80%
That's a tough pull to replace those votes

It's sad to see so many unprincipled people talk about the "losing battle" of abortion, as if we should only support policies that are popular. If this nation starts becoming antagonistic towards gun rights, are you going to support abandoning those to ensure elections are won? What about socialism? You going to embrace that if society does just to win elections?
What convictions do you have that you are willing to lose elections over?
