WFH in government is bound to fail. Government is notorious for lazy employees. Give them free range to slack off at home was a terrible idea.

This is almost as stupid as the look on Johnson's face.
If this is Trump's "first" priority, then he's been telling y'all lies for 12 years.
All I've heard was price of eggs, gas, and immigration.

No one from the US Patent & Trademark Office has seen an office in DC in years
Perhaps because the USPTO isn't in DC.
But seriously, Patent Office employees have been teleworking for over 20 years and the current WFH agreement is bargained for with the employee union. It won't be easy to undo any of that.

POTUS can't. Directly. The only thing POTUS can directly do, is issue an EO to the government agencies, about doing it.
However. What POTUS CAN directly do, is try to put people in control of those agencies, who are in on the agenda to do it. Those are the peeps that make the top brass choices.

Got one. I was on-site all throughout Covid while a lot of y'all were sitting on the couch.
I just see this for the stupid shite that it is.

WFH for most situations in private enterprise are bound to fail as well.
ALL employees are lazy without supervision and consequences. Look at the traffic on this website during 9-4 for example.

Agree with Todd. They’re not gonna find anything in the private sector that pays as well for the little amount of work they have to do - even if they do have to report in for work

That’s not what it is about. It’s federal govt employees. But thinking the government doesn’t already dictate how some run their business is naive.
Farmers get told what to grow and not grow
Government contracts often are awarded only to the businesses that meet racial/gender quotas.
I could go on but the federal government has long ago crossed the bridge of telling how to operate their business but I can assure you, DJT is not going to tell XYZ corp their employees cannot WFH.

ending WFH
Once it starts in the public sector it will spread to the private sector.
The vacation is coming to an end and time for the seething to begin.

Uhhhh...he's talking about federal employees. So he's the boss. He absolutely can force them back to the office.

I’m fine with WFH as long as people are decentralized and held accountable for doing their jobs.
However, if Federal employees are not performing their duties, they should be pulled into the office.
If Fed agencies no longer need the physical business space, the facilities should be sold or razed for new development.

Alexandria, DC. Whatever. It's all the same.
I know they've been working from home for 20 years. My brother is a patent attorney in the DC area and has "friends" that work there that live all over the country.
And IMO, every public sector unions, especially AFGE needs to EAD.
ETA--and they're worried af. And rightfully so.

Lawsuit for what, exactly?
"Yeah, I'd like to sue my employer. They are making me come into the office instead of working from home. I don't want to do that. So I want to sue them."

WFH is for the top 20%. It’s not for everyone.

I mean... if that's how the company chooses to allow them to work, then that's fine. But the employee in no way gets to demand it. If your employer tells you you have to come into the office, then either go into the office or find another job. I couldn't care less that you can effectively do your job from home. I want to see you sitting in your office at your desk. I'm paying you to work for me, remember?

There's also the benefits packages. Especially the fed jobs that are unionized.
Both my brothers work for USPS. They stay for the bennies and retirement packages.

Yeah I assume the fast food business was tough during Covid. Good on you for continuing to be on top of those fries.
