Are they infallible? No. They are men.
Do you take everything they say as gospel?

I trust them more than the leftist economics I hear from MAGAz that's for sure

Union bro applauds things that will embolden union bros. Certainly news worthy.

Their overall package is still not nearly as bad for the manufacturers as it was pre 2008. The health care was the killer more so than wages.
Healthcare is still probably the biggest opportunity for cost savings among the Big Three (two?). Pooling UAW members of each company and the white collar employees would drive costs down for all three. This was discussed during the last round of negotiations but I believe some nuance about how the UAW negotiates individual companies at a time prevents it from becoming reality.

Too much theoretical economics instead of acknowledging political reality
The pitchforks will come out when half the country cant feed their family
The country will collapse when it has to print mass sums to meet debt obligations, causing an inflation crisis
Free trade does not work to resolve either of those systematic risks. The rest of the world does not play fair and participate in "free trade" - we cannot compete with subsidized industry, slave wages and so on.
Free trade does not bring a hundred million middle class jobs in an era where most of the economy derives from the select highest performing technical and trades professions.

Exactly. We're basically hemorrhaging our wealth across the board with the current net effect of tariffs and trade. Trump is leveling the field. That's all. If another country makes it more fair, the escalation stops. So the sooner another country comes to the table, the better. A lot of companies are moving back to the US as a result. Another interesting dynamic is companies here in the US are using foreign workers abroad as opposed to US workers. It's the same thing but with labor as opposed to made products. For example, Ive heard Chevron will be farming out a lot of engineering to India while laying off US workers. It'll be interesting to see what Trump's response will be. Overall, the tariffs are shifting manufacturing back to the US and will make this country not just a consumer economy but also one that makes products as well, like it used to.

I like how the question of if tariffs are inherently bad why wouldn’t other countries just get rid of them, goes unanswered for 5 pages.
Tariffs are either good or they are not. If we are being hit with them, the answer is to fricking hit back not bend over.
If Europe doesn’t want to get hit then drop the bullshite they started.

Shocker that you lie again. Thomas Sowell has clearly stated in both books and commentary that free trade is the best BUT it has to be free trade.
Say it with me slowflowretard, ITS NOT FREE TRADE IF ONE COUNTRY TARIFFS AND CREATES MARKET BARRIERS THAT ARE MULTIPLE TIMES THEIR PARTNERS.
That’s pretty straight forward even for a retard like you

Right. Tariffs are just a reflection if a country really is taking advantage of you, or they're giving you a fair exchange. Until Trump, countries have been screwing the US over while all the while, we the people, are just busy with our everyday lives coming home and gradually experiencing the decay of the US across the board. And now that the frog has awakened and starts wanting a better deal, people are "how dare you!". No more. You either give us a better exchange, or we go elsewhere. It's a HUGE shift. But it's an absolute necessary one. We cannot continue the way we've been blindly led and survive.

His real point was that the Democrats are trying to make political hay out of these tariffs, that they don't really care about the blue collar class and he isn't buying it.
Its a political observation rather than an economic one. He's not wrong. And any dem who is honest with themselves would admit they don't know two shits about macroeconomic impacts of short term trade wars, they just hope it helps them in the mid-terms.

not at all. what you are seeing is people happy about jobs coming back to this country. the jobs coming back is more important that it being a "union" job.

"Jobs coming back" isn't a great policy if those jobs aren't efficient given the market. Having to subsidize jobs to overpay them to make them economically viable is leftist bullshite that hurts the economy.

The economies of the world spent more than the past 50 years making the world more efficient, and the world prospered because of it. The US economy has been the envy of the world in all that time. But somehow we are convinced that making the world more expensive and less efficient is good because the UAW is in favor what is happening.
If you ever wanted to know what a red flag looked like, it’s the UAW or any union praising the action of a politician.

No. People in the industry clearly don’t know anything about it. We need a smarmy, anonymous internet loser like you to tell us what’s going on in the auto industry.
