Have they not been doing this?

Prisons are full already in the US and people are still dying.

Mexico has pretty much let the cartel do what the want for years with no consequences.

The time for slaps on the arse, I think, have been over for a long time. These cartels and these governments put themselves in this position by their actions, or lack thereof, don’t you think?

When there’s a serious mess, drastic decisions have to be made and at some point, toeing the line is just not good enough. Decisions that the majority do not care for have to be made at some point.

Several ex - military talking heads have been saying on FOX and several conservative podcasts that the cartels are now organized, supplied & run like military organizations. Point being the cartels aren't just a bunch of drug head peasants running around in Mexico's cities & rural areas. No question that any U.S. military group should plow them under in time but it won't be a walk in the park, at least according to these ex-military folks.

This is key. I expect that Trump is getting some legal advice regarding the International Law on what rights a country has when a neighboring country becomes a failed State that is taken over by a hostile, aggressive and terroristic non-state entity that is doing the things that the cartels are doing to the USA. I expect that that the advice given to Trump is that the USA has the legal right to attack across the US Mexico border to eliminate the threats.

There will be casualties to the US military folks who operate over the border. There will be civilian casualties in Mex because the Cartels will use Human Shields as a core component of their tactical approach.

Finally, the Cartels will attempt to execute retaliatory terrorist mass casualty events here inside the USA.

IMHO there are still embedded throughout the US Govt many Anti Trump federal employees who will attempt to harm Trump's Administration by leaking secret info to whatever enemy nation or person who is at war with Trump.

Trump has weeded out many of them, but, many still remain.

Now this is a war everyone should get behind. No issues at all with my tax dollars supporting this.

No. We havent. We've done the reverse

The demand is multi billion dollars in value. YOu can wipe out the cartels today, and a new drug and supplier will pop up tomorrow.

Its not bullets, money is the issue.

Weve spent trillions on this failed war. It does not work. According to every law of economics, attacking the cartels just creates additional distribution models.

We’ve spent trillions on a failed law enforcement action.

We’ve never tried outright violence and assassinations against the cartel.

The cartels are not going to mess up their billion dollar industry by bringing the wrath of the US military and justice system down on them. They'll wait out Trump and bank on the country shifting back to democrat control in 26/28 then they can get back to business as usual.
