First of all, it’s HBO. It’s supposed to be inappropriate. HBO is a premium cable subscription which shows literal porn.

Second, the plot line is that she was so desperate that she started degrading herself on onlyfans. The plot is that her character is making porn.

Third, Euphoria is basically a show about women making really bad decisions to deal with their trauma and that leading to worse and worse outcomes, like degrading yourself into being a whore.

Forth: I hate prudes on both sides of the aisle that seek to censor anything they don’t like just as much as I hate SJW’s who have to insert identity politics into every IP by race, gender, and sexual orientation swapping established characters for “modern audiences”.

I think laws exist to deter people from those actions. It's why I never bought into the "legalize weed and less people will smoke because the stigma is gone". If we criminalize porn, less people will engage in it. And having more options doesn't make you more free. That's a liberal interpretation of freedom.

It’s not that legalizing it will necessarily make people do it less, but it will likely make them do it more safely and responsibly. Clearly, it being illegal wasn’t stopping people from doing it. However, it being legal allows a few things to happen: people doing it out in the open, people buying from reputable businesses, customers having confidence that their product is being tested for purity, less frequency of “binge” consumption.

Underage people tend to binge drink when they drink more often than people over 21 because people over 21 can buy a drink whenever they want. People under 21 don’t always have access to it, so when they do, they tend to overdo it. It’s like if someone was starving, just barely surviving on ramen noodles and pb&j for months and then their parents brought them to a high end AYCE buffet. Good chance they’ll eat until they’re sick to their stomach, not knowing when they’ll even have the opportunity to eat this well again.

If people have access to food consistently, they’re less likely to overeat when they have the opportunity to indulge. Whereas, people who are consistently hungry from not having a consistent supply of food will overeat when able, unsure of their next meal. People with vices are often no different, which is dangerous when addictive substances are in play.

I’m skeptical about those statistics because it’s much harder to gauge consumption of an illegal product than it is a legal one.

In my opinion, the goal is NOT to deter people from doing things. It is to deter people from harming others, and to prevent people from receiving a product they didn’t want when they weren’t looking for it.

For example, if I want porn, I’ll look for porn. I don’t want to find porn when I’m not looking for it. I don’t want to accidentally stumble upon porn. Porn can be seriously harmful to young kids (children are too young to consent to contracts anyways, so I have no issues restricting their choices), so access to it should be somewhat restricted, and what is vs isn’t porn should be labeled so the consumer knows what they are choosing.

Humans are inherently flawed. Thus, human authorities are inherently flawed. Power tends to corrupt those who seek and wield it, as the interests of maintaining power and satisfying selfish impulses and desires take precedence over doing good.Therefore, I don’t trust human authorities to tell me what is and isn’t freedom, and neither should you. Any entity trusted with enough authority to make decisions for me will ultimately be corrupted by that authority into making decisions for me based on what benefits the decision maker more so than what benefits me.
