A character arc is the changes and growth experienced by a fictional character in a story. They start one way, have experiences both good and bad, face challenges and setbacks, and arrive at the conclusion a different person than they started.

Sydney Sweeny starts off as a high school girl with daddy issues. She acts on those in different situations consistent with her desperate need for male attention and approval. The show treats her as a cautionary tale. Her situation gets worse and worse with time as she continues making mistakes and dealing with the consequences.

Meghan Kelly hasn’t seen the show, so she’s jumping to the conclusion that Sydney Sweeny’s behavior is glorifying being an internet whore. When in fact, in the show, it’s treated exactly the opposite. This reveals that Kelly doesn’t actually have a real reason to criticize Sydney or HBO other than her own jealousy and insecurity around an attractive younger woman in media getting attention.

I have always held that a person’s political views are entirely different from their social stance.
