McCabe had aspirations his wife would start a political career, then work in lobbying (likely around healthcare) as he became Comey's heir, with a distributed domestic surveillance/police state operation against any political opposition, including Dems and the media.
Given his position, payments, scheming, and loyalties (all of which are now very well documented) it is obvious why he was so distraught at Hillary losing. Trump KO'd his whole meal ticket. The "Russian Collusion" crap was just a weak fall back to provide talking points/harassment for a couple years.
