Going against Trump like that is going to get a reciprocal response from Trump and his supporters.
Yep. It's all about personality. Not about policy.

Running for Congress often means having a big ego. Staying in Congress with its courtesan class constantly looking for ways to be in your good graces (and get incriminating evidence on you) grows that ego. People like that are far more susceptible to succumbing to the 2nd point, especially if they've been in the Beltway for a decade or more (ie: long enough to feel the job and having smoke being constantly blown up their arse is their right).
Exactly. We need more congress people willing to sell out and leave policy they ran on behind. Fight! Fight! Fight! Unless the party leadership doesn't want to.

Trump made moves to shrink the gov. In both terms.

Hmm…that explains the most debt of any POTUS ever?

Crap, I don’t think you could make this level of stupidity in a damn lab.

Who said conservatives were for "no government"? I didn't call them ancaps.

What moves did Trump make to shrink the government? The spending keeps getting worse and now Trump wants the government to buy stock in private companies.

Yes, the number of fed gov employees has fallen fast, which is awesome, but that hasn't reduced the power of the federal government one iota.

You see we have a real issue with being conservative or libertarian.

Conservatives actually see a use for smaller gov vs no gov.

This point would potentially matter if we didn't have a history of his voters supporting his libertarian stances over a long period of time. Clearly that is not the issue as history has shown.

Here is the perfect example. The deficit is being addressed and its part of the plan Massie was blocking. Rand too.

What you interpreted his out of context statement is not the plan.

In short, the plan is to take in more taxes by the creation of higher paying jobs and putting more people to work. There are other aspects but that is the major part of it.

If Massie is such a staunch conservative then why have the voters turned on him?

That is the question.

With such a short period of time between now and the last election, which is about 1.5 years, we've seen a huge divergence in the vote support for Massie. Massie does not appear to have any major policy shifts question which implies that his constituents have changed. The question is why that happened

We had someone like Massie in our state senate. Always grandstanding. Never gets anything done. Never gets anything passed but damn if he's great on Facebook. If he had played his cards right he would be Senator now but he couldn't play with anyone.

His one time ally in the State Senate was just as conservative as he was but got smart and decided bomb throwing all the time is not good politics. He is now Secretary of State and will probably be Lieutenant Governor

The government is hamstrung by DOGE. I live it everyday because my clients are government. If you think the government has a lot of power …

"Massie is going to be come a democrat!" is my favorite line. Trump isn't conservative enough, so he's going to join the demcorats. Makes perfect sense.

Lmao. It would be one thing is Massie was running against a conservative stalwart. He is not.

He is running against against a person who promoted DEI policies a short time ago.

Maybe. They will be removed too. Its simple. People had enough.

Even if that magic unicorn existed, where exactly is this making the government smaller?

You can harp all day long about Covid. It changes nothing.

You can butch and scream at the sky. It will not change anything.

If Massie would have worked as hard on a spending bill as he did on the Epstein Files, and worked with Republicans the way he stood with Democrats, he would be easily reelected.

Massie is a slimy turncoat.
