Stop thinking logically here, just go with it. That will never happen.....and even if it does, it will be a good thing.

Less bureaucrats means less bureaucracy which leads to a more efficient government.

I agree with cutting whole programs. I think the number of talented people in govt is probably pretty low. Im fine with the minimum # of govt employees possible

I have no idea. What do you do for work? How does your retirement work out as of now?

If you fire lots of government employees - then they can't spend money.

both of those will raise food prices. Are Americans willing to take that hit as a trade off?

well - either that to go to work for a lesser wage in order to feed themselves - or go hungry.

That was the basic situation of life when I was born and during most of my early life.

It was not until the "Great Society" came along that we had neer-do-wells sitting on their asses all day with nothing to do but demand higher welfare payouts.

In terms of dollars that can be saved, the OP is 100% correct. All you have to do is look at staffing in a place like Dept of Ed and compare it to the budget authority. The answer of course is that you must address both.

But this board just hates the employees that work for the federal govt. They don't care that this burning desire to fire them all will result in a complete Dem takeover of the govt.

Field offices for a lot of fed agencies are already a ghost town, no fat left to trim and severely under staffed, and these are people who actually do work on the ground and never really left the office for covid. But every GS-14+ sitting fat and happy in DC needs to be put on notice by kitchen sink Elon.

Because nobody actually wants to work in the heartland. All these east coast snobs want to work in DC. Its time to spread out the government so that it isnt just select, east coast families running everything

It is a start.

There are abnormal and egregious wasted funds from overstaffed departments, as well as unnecessary departments existing "just because they've always been there".

I'm 100% for maximizing efficiency through mass downsizing within the Federal Government.

And all of these jobs that still can’t get filled, like the damn checkout aisles at the grocery store, need warm bodies

It’s gonna be great

Lay off all the employees of the Department of Education and then the entire budget for all DOE programs is suddenly cut as well. Win-win.

6.47 trillion-dollar budget. You think we could drop it to 5 trillion dollars and still get by?

Businesses fire good people everyday as a result of cost cutting, poor company performance or replacement by more qualified workers, why are government workers sacred and better than the rest of us? Get out of here with this BS!
