Anyone with sense and the means to pay for their kids to be in private schools is doing just that. Parents of these kids who are teachers are teaching in private schools.

30 years energy before teaching. 15 years teaching public high school science.
Great jobs throughout my careers. No regrets. But administrators are really bad. Like I said, most wouldn’t make it out of a cubicle, and some wouldn’t make it through the front door.
And I was a hiring manager for 24 of my 30 years, including executive management.

And I just retired from teaching last year.

I just retired. Upper middle class school district. Great kids. At least the science classes I taught. Administration was worthless. Worthless. This is over 15 years. Came in at 51. Left at 66.
I saw a lot of unprofessional conduct from both teachers and administrators. Many mid-50s men were still in high school, if you get my drift. Ogling? You betcha. And as a father of two girls, now nearby 40 year old women, I couldn’t believe the depravity.
Upper middle class suburban public school system. Suburb of Columbus, Ohio.

Teachers are leaving the profession due some of the education debacles that happened during Covid. Also as someone who currently teaches less people are getting into the profession. You need a decent amount of test and certifications just to stay in the profession. You can go make the same if not more money in less stressful environments. Some people are clocked in for 8 hrs at a job but do 2-3 hrs of work. Teachers other than lunch if you don’t have duty are working from as soon as they get there until they get home.

The same reason why we have a police shortage. No one wants to get in trouble for doing their job. Why expose yourself that that shite? They don’t give a damn about you nor themselves. Its all about perpetuating the victim status for the democrats.

Just quoting this because it needed reposting again. Absolute truth.

So she wants the federal government leading the charge on state education??
Posted on 8/23/22 at 7:53 pm to tigerpawl
I don't care. Move out of Democrat strongholds and start acting like normal people.
OR...vote Democrat, and get Democrats.

Maybe we can stop installing turf football fields and pay them a little extra?

I don’t know how teachers make it to be honest. Beside the rigors of the job, the pay and benefits are just so dang bad. The Biden inflation hit them like a ton of bricks, as there was no room in the budget to absorb everything going up. You can just expect them to have a second job, or just move into a different industry. It’s a problem that I don’t see going away. Finding a place to educate a kid just got a lot tougher

And who do you think designs state tests and develops district curricula? Teachers do. The states will hire them on to help develop that. I spent one summer earning a stipend rewriting a district curriculum.
Yeah. It’s almost like you didn’t read what I wrote.

That was very admirable to go back and teach after 30 years in the oil patch.
I would suspect that the administrators are not hired on merit.
Enjoy the well earned retirement.

Becoming a teacher is like becoming a cop.
Shitty pay
Thankless job
Terrible work conditions
And dealing with the worst people and kids in America.

quote:Perhaps qualified people wont take the job to have some bureaucrat tell them to keep the little criminal in their class because they want the funding for 'teaching' his special needs arse.
Perhaps the teachers are unqualified to be teaching and they need the guidance
Perhaps fewer unqualified teachers would exist if we gave the qualified ones what they need.
