Why? It still gets dark in Montana.
You think solar and wind could be scaled up in the very near future to run large cities?

If that were the focus of the thread, you'd have a point.

The truth is that you have to rely on a huge storage capacity, and hope the conditions like wind and solar clear days are a constant ( and that doesn’t happen), so yes, she’s absolutely right. You can’t count on solar and wind to both heat your house all day/night in winter or cool all 24 hours in the throws of Summer…. It’s just the truth at current technology capabilities…..People might laugh at her, but she’s technically spot on here….

Well I guess people thinking solar works at night are the dumbest on the planet.
Cheers bud.

Both sides do this. This isn't just a liberal thing. Brandon says stupid shite all the time by mistake.
This isn’t quite the same.
Without sun and ability to store, solar sucks. Without wind or during a freeze, windmills suck.
Plus they are both equally shitty for the landscape which is why the elite would never put a wind farm by their houses.

Imagine thinking Wind produces any significant energy

This board is amazing. People defending MTG in droves as if she’s not the biggest idiot ever. Unreal.

Probably one of the dumbest humans on the planet.

On the Great Plains the wind often dies down at night. So who is stupid?

Not really. As usual, her biggest problem is that she lacks nuance and context.

Thank god for air conditioning. Let’s talk about refrigerators. I personally like my refrigerator. I know you all like yours. What about washing machines and dryers? Lord please God don’t make me scrub clothes in a bucket and have to hang them out on a line when we switch over to wind turbines and solar panels,” she said. “I’m gonna be really pissed off about that. I mean, how absurd is this? I like the lights on. I wanna stay up later at night. I don’t wanna have to go to bed when the sun sets. It’s so silly! I mean, all of this is insane.
Where did she say solar won’t work at night?
It’s not even intimated in the quote.
She rightly points out that we are used to the comfort and convenience of plentiful electricity.
We will not have that if we convert to only “renewable” sources for electric.
I’m sure you’ll correct the OP.

The only people lacking context are the people who read the paragraph quote in OP and decided MTG thinks you can’t store solar power.

This is not the first dumb thing that comes out of her mouth. She’s an embarrassment.

So she's correct and half this thread is bullshite.
California:
quote:
California is the nation’s top producer of electricity from solar, geothermal, and biomass energy.
Also California:
quote:
– The California Independent System Operator (ISO), with extreme heat forecast for much of California and the Southwest, has issued a statewide Flex Alert to encourage electricity conservation tomorrow from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. to reduce stress on the grid and avoid power outages.
