I don’t know my arse from a hole in the ground because I don’t appreciate the idea of young Americans literally being put in a hole in the ground because Israel needs to use us as a vessel to carry out their mission of expanding into a Global superpower. Really thoughtful stuff

A truly baffling move.
It might be unpopular at the time to have a war, but he's already a 2 term president. It's not like he blew a shot at re-election.
And it's also not like Congress has been passing some momentous bills through; almost everything has been done via executive order, which can be undone easily enough. And lots of his reforms have been contested by the courts, might not see much last very long after his term is over.
But this- if he can effectively remove several major mid-level opponents to America/pawns of China, his legacy is cemented. Venezuela is meh, but Iran would be major. If you then add Cuba to the list before it's over, that's setting America up well going forward. Like him or not, it would be hard to deny what he accomplished, which is something I think he wants.

Not sure if mentioned in this thread, but I heard we offered free nuclear fuel forever if they stop their enrichment forever. You know cause they "were only doing it for energy purposes." They said, no. Which was the ultimate sign that they arent serious.
