I wish OleWarSkuleAlum was here to see. I miss his Marco posts that always ended up with a flattering photo of Marco during the 2026-2020 timeframe.

The Republican bench is ridiculously deep compared to the Democrats.
The problem the Democrats have is not a lack of good candidates; it’s that their party is fractured into a radical Woke contingent, that will only accept bad candidates, and a center-left that is trying to rewrite the platform to be something centrists like.

I watched one interview with Rubio last week. He was incredible.

RDS issue is that his social skills are more aligned with being part of DOGE than running for public office. His policy is phenomenal, and his strategy was elite up until the mistake of challenging Trump.
I would bet Casey was the one who convinced him to run against Trump in the first place. He needs to put on pants and let her know her role is as a FLOTUS, not the head honcho.
In a 3 way battle, I would likely lean RDS. I like Vance and Rubio, but they both became full fledged conservatives a bit late, we cant afford the next GOP leader to lead us back to the Bush/McCain days. Not that I think they would, but if you have options, why take the risk.

FLTech posted this on TD and it gave me reason to be optimistic about Rubio:
'From what I have gathered (that we never see on the frontline, but behind the scenes) - Rubio is a Bulldog and world leaders are scared to death of this guy.
I have now heard this from Shawn Ryan, Sean Spicer and a few pundits on NewsMax
I don’t really know why they are scared of him, but from what I heard is that he is the most fearless bulldog / we will frick your world up if you do not comply badass negotiator behind the scenes.'

Another reason to believe in Rubio is that he has been working with Elbridge Colby for a few years now. Most of his recent foreign policy these past years has come from Bridge.
Watch Colby's recent-ish interview (few months ago) with Tucker, and read his book (Strategy of Denial). He is the brains behind the GOP foreign policy these days.

They all realized Trump was the way. Took away the fear.
We need to remember the ones that were paralyzed by fear of the left's media.

Marco is doing a great job. Trump has assembled an all-star team in his administration. They have also exceeded my expectations on the progress they have achieved. Some people have said it before, but Trump not "winning" 2020, gave him the time to detach himself from politicians antithetical to MAGA.

PS it always makes me furious where being married to someone is parlayed into some kind of qualification to do the job your husband did. WTAF?
I've heard many LA folks say this privately re: Julia Letlow. Nice lady, horrible circumstances, yet no real qualifications other than marriage. An interesting discussion to be sure.

I initially thought he was a so so pick. Boy he is blowing my mind right now. Little marco has grown up.
I agree.
Marco is smart.
For example on the issue of tariffs. As Trump sells his tariff idea partly on the issue of tax revenue Marco sees them for what they really are, national security. Simply put, if we are going to potentially go to war with China we can't rely on China for steel, aluminum and copper raw material to manufacture tanks, ships, planes and artillery shells. Voices to save U.S. manufacturing capability are coming from the DoD and the U.S. Treasury. Why the U.S. Treasury? Because they realize the foundation of U.S. dollar hegemony relies on the global presence of the U.S. military. At it's foundation the U.S. military requires domestic raw materials and manufacturing. Tariffs are just a tool to keep those resources protected.

I tried to tell you a while back
What did you see because I missed it?
The way Rubio is acting right now it's like he played the slow deep state con while in the U.S. Senate Select Committee on National Intelligence (which is probably the most powerful congressional committee in DC).

What's more likely?
Rubio, who entered politics with the Tea Party and bent over on immigration within his first year in DC, played some "slow deep state con".
Or
Rubio, who's been proven to be soft as baby shite, just goes the way he sees the prevailing political winds blow and right now that's MAGA.
I know where I'd put my money.
