I don't give a shite about Manafort as a person, but why in the hell is he being held in solitary? Even murderers don't get that kind of treatment.
If anything this should be an ankle bracelet type of holding until his trial. Just more police state 3rd world tactics from Mueller.

Everyone should be up in arms over it.
Pretty much sets a precedent that anyone can be plucked off the street and thrown into solitary confinement.
Some out there happy about this have a very short sightedness and would probably be shitty chess players.

This has been happening for a long time. It's why conservatives should distance themselves from the gung-ho law enforcement types who equate conservatism with a virtual police state. Actually limiting government requires the citizenry to question and challenge law enforcement and prosecutors.

I might be missing some facts but this seems like an 8th amendment violation. He hasn't been convicted of anything, right? The most he should be facing is confinement in the most permissive environment possible, that simply precludes him being able to tamper with a witness.

because he demonstrated a likelihood to commit a crime of tampering, so he is probably isolated.

You are so ignorant. They are keeping him out of general population. I would suggest that in this case solitary is protective custody.

He actually had two (one from each district). The thing to remember about the the D.C. jail where he's being held is that because D.C. has no state level jurisdiction and all the local laws are federal laws it's a lot rougher than your average federal detention. I think Michael Vick got the same cell and conditions as Manafort due to the sensitivity of the case.
