If a CDL issued to someone in one state is valid in another state (meaning that they're able to cross state lines with the same license) this is a federal issue and should be handled federally. Enough with this shite.

I don’t understand why it’s never a politician’s family that gets killed in a car fire caused by these people.

I seem to recall a very high profile politician losing a daughter to an accident in the last year. Someone remind me who that might be.

Shut that shite down. The company deserves to lose every fricking cent. And someone needs to go to jail.

Why would you hire a driver who can't speak English? What if there is some type of emergency on the bus? Then once you realize that states like NY are giving away CDLs, you still let this guy drive?

If the CDL was issued outside of the guidance with the State then the person issued it should all be sued too. If you start threatening the pensions of these government employees they will start pushing back on their bosses.

Hence Thomas and Alito’s dissent on the dismissal of Florida suing California et all over bogus CDLs.

I always assumed being fluent in English was a requirement for US citizenship. When did this change?

I agree go after them. It an inherent problem both at the federal, state, and city levels. The overwhelming majority of govt workers are liberal democrats. Then they are the clerks who issue CDLs, the inspectors who are supposed to find out if any learning is actually going on at the learing centers. The assisted care centers, a dozen within a mile of each other and no one blinks an eye.

I saw an investigative report on these "transport companies". They churn and burn drivers, reincorporate every few months, etc. Its quite an industry. And a pain in the arse to nail jello to the wall when the states are not only not assisting the feds but actively encouraging this behavior.

NY state is handing the cdls out like candy, even if you dont live there. The feds are taking action....

quote:

Withheld Highway Funds: The federal government recently froze \(\$73 \text{ million}\) in federal highway funds over a dispute with NYSDOT regarding non-domiciled commercial driver's licenses (CDL). New York filed a lawsuit in the Second Circuit Court of Appeals to invalidate this withholding and recover the money.

This is absolutely in violation of federal law, I dont see how NY can win this case, but with lawfare who knows.

Seems you could have an executive order mandating every CDL holder must present at a some type of field office, set up at 100s of truckstops or along major transport routes, where a simple ‘see Jane run’ type of English proficiency test can be performed in minutes or less.

You’d want a random generator of 1000s of simple sentences.

Have someone talk to them on the way in and separate into two lines the English speaking and everyone else to make the one line move rapidly and efficiently.

I’m sure American truckers (tip: ‘bed’ turn the b or d around and you’d fall out of bed !) would welcome this.

Give them 6 months to test or CDL gets revoked.

Deport everyone who fails.

I guess the next step would be to try to get Congress to pass a law governing CDL licensing for interstate transport, stating any state issuing a CDL which could be used on a federal highway system and/or used for interstate transport may be granted only to those who can fluently read, write and speak English.
