That's what's going to be interesting...the "now what".
I don’t disagree, but the situation in Venezuela is unique. There is already another leader that probably more than half the population believe is the true leader. The question will be how will the Venezuela military react and will the current leadership step down. Hopefully having an entire fleet off their coast gives the military enough of a scare to walk away and also give the public confidence that we aren’t going anywhere and are willing to have their back
I have met many ex-middle class Venezuelans over the years and they are amazing people, who would love to go back to their country. Some do go on visits, but they don’t bring their kids because it’s to dangerous. Maybe this will be the beginning of the end of this nightmare they have lived.

Venezuela hardly has a military.
The hell they don't. If Maduro is so hated by the people of Venezuela, why weren't they able to run him out of power long ago?
Rule #1 of being a dictator...have a strong military and pay them well. They keep you in power.
Now when I say "strong military", I don't mean strong enough to actually fend off an attack by a superpower like the US. But certainly strong enough to keep the citizenry under control and put down any rebellion.

The citizens were too busy fighting for food including literally cooking rats just to survive. They had no way of fighting a cartel and serious opposition were simply killed before they could unite.

And there is a vice president who may not want to step aside. Which one will be president?
Who will the generals support?

I visited Caracas for a few days in 1987. I thought it was an awesome place. It could be a tourist destination again.

Good point. We should have allowed the Venezuelan people to vote him out.
Oh wait!

And here's another one:
Those reports of Hezbollah being active in Venezuela, especially Margarita Island? What's going to happen there? Do they just quietly pack up and leave? Does the new administration run them out? Because now having started down this road, the US cannot allow a continued presence by Hezbollah in Venezuela.

Wow it doesn't get much cleaner than that.
1 strike and you cut off the head of the snake.
Hopefully this lets those other Communist frickers in South America (Brazil and Colombia) know we are serious.

All that stuff is almost assuredly settled prior to the strike. Venezuela won’t look back.

Liberals who had been sky screaming about lengthy regime change wars incoming now will say isolationism is the only way. Same ones who weee for USAID fraud.

How would you know that? When was the last free election in Venezuela?

Venezuela's government called on its supporters to take to the streets.
"People to the streets!" it said in a statement. "The Bolivarian Government calls on all social and political forces in the country to activate mobilization plans and repudiate this imperialist attack."

1998. Hugo Chavez. He gave us Maduro. How did that work out?

Idiot could have gotten $50,000,000 for turning the fishing boat captain in. Now he’s going down too.
