re: Madison County, MS School Board Meeting Last Night

Our school board said no requirement for teachers or students and no more distance learning options. They studied the science including statistics and did a risk assessment and found a mandate was not necessary and distance learning was not productive.

Board members were talking down to constituents. One screamed "I'm tired of listening to you" to one of the parents.
Isn't that a large portion of their duties as school board members? wtf

I’m not going to judge without context.
If the parent was making a legitimate point and got this response, the board member deserves a ton of shite over it.
If the parent was being disrespectful as hell and threatening, less so.
I’m inclined to believe the former, though, because politicians like this aren’t used to being challenged.

Sounds like mostly a win for the freedom lovers. I live in DeSoto county and they aren't mandating anything unless Tyrant Tate decides to issue another imperial edict. Even then, I'm not so certain that the board would follow it.

It has been entertaining to watch here....
The county school board is not requiring masks and leaving it as optional.
The city school board is requiring masks but they tried to bring in a "medical expert", which she is a Dr. but most view her as a quack to explain to parents why the necessity of the masks. The board just had a pediatrician rotate off (it is an appointed board) and he was at the meeting speaking against the requirement for masks. Parents are pissed...

Pear River County as of now is mask optional for students and faculty.

Every word of this is the truth.

In the end, the board announced that masks would be optional in the classroom, but required on busses and in situations where proper social distancing was not possible.
These are kids, the younger they are the less they are going to continually social distance. Also, the less likely they are to catch COVID and the more likely they are to have lesser symptoms IF they become infected. This is all well-documented.
With that said, the school board made the absolute worst decision it could make. By mandating it only in specific instances (elementary kids are going to be masked and social distance when playing during recess? for example), they've effectively made any masking irrelevant (if it's relevant at all).
The real bottom line on this is that, aside from ignoring the science of COVID vs age, it becomes more and more difficult to maintain masking and social distancing among kids the younger they are, making every attempt futile once any kid breaks the guidelines. You would be better off trying to herd cats with a water gun.

They did. It’s a war, not of physical weapons, but of information/misinformation and ideas. You cannot give an inch to these leftist communists. You cannot compromise with them, and they have made it impossible to have a civil discussion.

We have to make a stand . If the school boards force kids to wear mask then home school them if at all possible. While it will suck for us , it’s also going to hurt the teachers union.

these liberal leftist have been pulling this type of stunts for years.
they do not want to get along with anyone that disagrees with them. they will shout at you, curse you, and use loud ear piercing horns to disrupt someone that offers a rational argument.
no semblance of decorum ever comes from the left. very similar to a socialist democrat in the house chamber.
HailToTheChiz has must have watched the MSM broadcast last year when all the peaceful protest was taking place. much "constructive dialogue" represented by antifa and CNN since 2016 eh?

Not in my part of the south. Our school system is not requiring masks. This is in West Georgia.

Mask aren’t necessary as they don’t work.
Not unless you have a M 95 or greater. And those aren’t even meant to be worn for eight hours at a time.

We have tried talking and debate for the last decade and lost repeatedly yo screaming insane morons. It is past time we adopt their tactics. Stop giving respect to as holes that don't deserve it!

I’m thankful our Governor in SC put an end to these school boards with a messiah complex.
Certain school districts were pissed but he implemented during the last week of school last year and said he would fine those who didn’t follow.

406 kids under 18 have died of Covid since January 2020. While that is sad, it is statistically improbable that your child will contract covid and die.
But think of how many children went unseen during virtual schools who had experienced domestic violence or abuse within their homes or went without meals? I bet it’s more than 406.
