Neither one of us know if this is true but let's say it is. Why would he want that to happen unless it's the best option available?
I wonder why a person in charge of the military would want to continue operations somewhere....
Hmmmm....

I really agree. I don't know why people with our opinion are getting downvoted

I thought Mattis was the greatest SecDef pick in the history of all SecDef picks. But you tell me what he’s done to keep my trust. He was wrong on women in combat and he’s obviously wrong on Syria and Afghanistan. So why should I care if he goes? Because he has badass quotes that make good memes? No thanks.
Mattis Recommends Keeping Transgender Troops in Military: Report
I am sure Mattis deserves many military medals and accolades;but he seems to have gone neocon-Pentagon. Trump said he was kind of a democrat for a reason.

I like Mattis, but I also like us getting out of endless foreign wars.

I don't think that's the case. They both have two different jobs that can be at odds with each other. You've got a continent that's been used to us doing their dirty work so they can enjoy the good life and now they're pissed because we're telling them the gravy train is coming to a halt. I'm sure Mattis is tired of having to assure them that we're still allies while Trump tells them to stop being leeching shitbags.

In the one where Trump pulls out of two pointless and unwinnabke wars and Mattis quits over it.
Sounds like bias to me.

Hmmmm. Do you think the military ceases to exist and doesn't need leadership if we pull out of those hellholes? Pulling out would make Mattis' job easier not harder.
Quit acting like Mattis owns a defense contracting corp.

Where would you get this from my post? Holy jump to conclusions.

So you’re saying the military doesn’t have a vested interest in keeping wars/operations going?
Maybe playing with legos is more your speed.

quote:Trump is just rightbon these issues. All of them. Europe and now the ME. And before anyone comes in here and call me a “Trumptard” I’ve been bashing NATO and saying we should leave Syria and Iraq long before Trump ever joined the political scene. And I’ve been bashing Mattis over the women in combat roles thing since about 6 months after he took the job. My post history reflects all of this.

Trump has made the MSM look foolish. Just a few years ago they detested our presence in the mid-east. Now, they have become war hawks.
And I agree with Trump on this move. Time for the mid-east to either sink or swim. I'm tired of having our people killed over there. frick them. Let Russia have it (good luck to you Russia).

No. The military contractors and the congressmen they own are the ones that have vested interest in all of these wars continuing.

I actually agree with bonespur on this one. The middle East is an insane asylum. W opened Pandora's box when he invaded.

It's really no different than my boss wanting to go in a certain direction that's best for the company while he leaves it to me to assure the contractors that we're not bailing on them

Mnhm. Spin it whichever way you want to mon frere.
Find me a military leader who opposes continued operations or pulling troops out of a controlled territory.
I’ll wait.
