Sent a really nice email to them... maybe shouldn’t have drunk so much tonight but frick it the truth hurts. They will not get a dime from me and my three children will not attend a university I have been proud to support.

Just sent. That is a first for me btw.

I’m also in the process of sending emails to my reps and senators, also firsts.

I’m done being silent. It’s the only way this crap will stop. We can’t be the silent majority anymore.

frick. This pisses me off. I have a son at LSU that will be a sophomore this fall. If ever he wants to switch schools I’m not going to discourage him and that is coming from someone with five generations of LSU grads.

Why support this Marxist bullshite? Unbelievable.

This is regrettable going about this the way they are. Express your sincere support for blacks, commit to diversity, recruit more qualified blacks as students, but stay the hell away from Black Lives Matter. It is a dangerous, radical, and militant cult with questionable goals, and honest people will eventually see them for what they are. We don’t need the stench of that organization to be a good brother to our fellow man.
I mean, what's kind of weird is that the link contains the phrase "black lives matter" once or twice, but I don't see anything linking the school to the BLM organization.

That’s what I’m saying. Nothing links to BLM webpage.

a second reply, to get the attention of the administration more balanced to the concept of all lives matter, the LSU Family is going to have to generate work for the administration . bureaucracies above all else hate having to do work much more than money issues.

such as

Asking the state legislature to examine the Blm programs at LSU and Grambling to insure separate but equal programs exist

asking that valentines day be changed to "all lives matter" day to promote the love for all peoples

Have a local lawyer send the chancellor an information requisition that describe the adherence to La open meeting law and title 9 with regards to the weeklong BLM meeting

stickers, have about 10000 2" stickers printed with all lives matter place on campus appropriately

have the cheerleaders required to wear ankle length skirts to avoid offending the conservative spectators

have the administration move money and resources from language arts to STEM and nursing programs where the return to society is greater

have the administration promote a research project to compare the ability of local armadillos to transmit Coro virus as compared to the pangolin rodent in china that looks like an armadillo. helps understand that looking alike may be a clue

closing word. cause the admin to do work. they get tired really fast

My son is too far into his program to think about moving but I feel the same way. He is likely the last of 5-6 generations. It’s not just the recent BLM bullshite either. The quality of instruction has decreased so much and that’s what they should be focusing on. I was so happy and proud when my son chose LSU. Now I can’t wait for him to be done. I can’t imagine a scenario where I would support my younger kids attending LSU.

Big Scrub, we are going on our second month of a "new normal" with BLM.

As a result, we have seen children killed in the streets, businesses burned to the ground, mobs assaulting people, public officials refusing to protect citizens from crime and prosecuting law abiding citizens, and on and on

Now you might not see the problems with the movement, but you are a fricking idiot.

I have no problem with the phrase "black lives matter". I DO have a problem with the Black Lives Matter organization. As far as I can tell from the link provided in the OP, the latter is not present.

the sad reality is that LSU is now moving itself into a position that will forever change the trajectory of the university. While the administration both academically and athletically are looking at this as a way to help themselves by fighting to see who can get on their knees and see who can blow these racist and pandering groups more, it is likely to backfire disastrously for both.

People don't need to be racist to be extremely upset at these courses of action. Using racist tactics to fight "perceived" racism is only counterproductive.

Assuming that a state-funded college will be little affected by alumni and supporters pulling financial donations in this climate is extremely naive. The state budgets are getting hammered with shutdowns, tax revenue that pays for things like higher ed funding are next to nothing at this time, and given the state of Louisiana's decline financially, this will be a major disaster.

Football season will likely either be cancelled or without most if any fans in attendance. That is going to be a huge hit for the university's budgets which will either have to compensate from general budgets or other funds (which will be diminishing).

Add on top of that all of the money that LSU is having to spend to make changes for online learning, accommodating faculty and staff needs, making campus safe, etc. This is the worst possible time to basically piss off your donors across the board, which this will do.

But they are though, Mick. Whether they know it or not they are alienating the bread and butter of the University.

They aren’t alienating huge numbers of people. They’ve pissed off some who will get over in a few months and forget they were ever mad at all.
