This amendment doesn’t allow any exceptions and I could see some people arguing even rape, or the mothers life is in jeopardy, or the baby is certified dead and you’d now be forcing the mother carry the dead baby full term. The woman should have a choice in these situations. It should not be used as birth control or for “oh no I made a mistake”.
This amendment would not be making abortion illegal.
This in terms of gun rights would be akin to "there shall not be an amendment in the constitution declaring a right to bear arms" which would not outlaw firearms, it just means the government is able to regulate it. For me, the money part is the bigger factor on why I'm likely to vote yes.

Yes to all except the last prop.

Why do you oppose the prop? I didn't know there were any actual people who opposed something like that.

I don't want to fund public schools. Why are you a no on number 1?

anyone else just fricking tired of how many amendments there are in the LA constitution? Holy hell why don’t we just start over?
This is why I vote no on the vast majority of amendments. Most of this stuff can be legislated. It's pretty fricking difficult to get rid of a constitutional amendment once it's passed.

1-3 were tricky. I'm not necessarily pro-life, but if abortion were to be constitutional, then I don't think the tax payers should be fronting the bill. Should come directly out of the pocket of the person who wants the abortion.
For 2, as another poster alluded to:
This was my line of thinking as well.
3 I'm not so sure on. I figured the money should come from the Fed instead of some trust fund run by the State, but I could be thinking about that wrong.

Oil and gas production is not a guarantee therefore not included in the property assessment. If the well runs dry you're stuck paying high taxes and the assessment is shite.

Here is my reply from earlier in this thread:

However, my opinion on the amendment does not really stem from my view on abortion. I oppose it because it doesn't do anything that is not needed. Louisiana already has a law on the books that would outlaw abortion in the event that Roe is ever walked back by SCOTUS.
What’s your actual reason for voting no on the prop?

I am talking about the sports betting proposition.

Oh, I am voting yes on that. I am talking about the 5 mill renewal in Lafayette Parish.

Definitely voting YES on #1 and #7. Not sure on the others yet.

2- no never vote for more taxes, this is a way to frick people over... pretty soon after this you'll be paying taxes for your mineral rights on the house you own just because some assessor says that you've got minerals/oil miles below you
3- hell no. JBE declares state of emergency for all the white supremacy or COVID or whatever made up bullshite and gives out checks to a bunch of dindu community organizers
4- yes
5- NO. I understand the desire for good paying jobs to come to an area, but this is a fundamentally un-fair and un-American practice. Favoring big businesses with tax breaks while smaller businesses bear the burden is serfdom bullshite. Corporate welfare. If a locality wants to entice businesses/manufacturing to an area, amend the local tax code to make it that way in the first place. Voting yes on this just enables politicians to keep fricking the little guy.

7- don't care... from what i've read this amendment doesn't really change much of anything

Do you support an amendment to permit the presence or production of oil or gas to be included in the methodology used to determine the fair market value of an oil or gas well for the purpose of property assessment?
I voted no on this. Why would you want higher property taxes. If you own a piece of shite land worth 2 cents that may not be land in 10 years due to subsidence why would you want to give the state a reason to increase the property values based on a couple of oil wells you have on that land?

1) Yes, we don't need a constitutional right to kill the unborn, and the state shouldn't have to pay for those that do it.
2) No. They collect enough taxes now.
3) No. There are enough "side funds" for them to steal from now.
4) No. The current limit is roughly 1/2 of the maximum they are asking for. Trick question.
5) No. No more unlimited property tax exemptions for industry.
6) No. Anyone making 77,030 per year can suffer with the same property tax exemption that the rest of us have to.
7) No. I don't like the clauses allowing the state to borrow from the fund.
8) No. Gambling is a plague on our society.
