Coach Halfwit,

From another thread:

Why do you all have to get your Jimmies all rustled that I’m an alter? Is this place that much of a bubble that y’all can’t imagine a new voice who doesn’t agree with you coming to post anything? I was born and raised in the New Orleans area. Ive read Tiger droppings for over 10 years. Made an account once after LSU lost BCS in 11 but never really used it. I mainly come here for sports information but recently I just come to see how dumbfounded I am at the ignorance in this state and the south. I don’t need to explain anything though. Man y’all are paranoid in the bubble.

So we projected to spend X, but only needed to spend Y.

X-Y=projected surplus.

Looks like someone was trying to cook the projections so to keep the impression we need to keep our taxes high.

If I am not mistaken, there are some constitutionally dedicated funds that get the money first in the state.

But we as citizens are not one of them.

You are a frickin ignorant, millenial moron. Get Government out and healthcare insurance to what it was in the 70's and you will have cheaper costs for all. And, I was born in the 70's, and I'm a physician

Exactly. Or the budget will be cut.

Where do you practice? I hope I never encounter you as a patient. You don’t sound very knowledgeable.

My wife works at an ortho clinic in BR. No one accepts Medicare.

One of them has a clinic they run that does. But it’s outside her docs group. Look I’m not denying you support a different ideological viewpoint from most here. But having known my wife for 7 years, and having spent a fair amount of time around and discussed with her doctors many times this exact subject, along with having several convos in Tiger Stadium with one of the biggest patient advocates at the VA Hospital in NOLA who also happened to found his home Parish’s Medical Society...they disagree with you.

All of them-and I mean that, every single one of them, to a man and woman-disagree with your take re: ACA and especially Medicare reimbursements, along with the efficacy and friction levels of the VA.

I can’t deny your opinion, but one anonymous message board MD whose 4 years out of school versus the combined level of experience of the physicians I know...I’ll tend to rely on their take regarding this subject.

Except the fact that a state can't alter Medicare.

You can call Baton Rouge for all I care. The difference is you think you know. But I’ve had discussions at Birthday Parties, Christmas Parties, tailgates and wedding receptions...even inside Tiger Stadium.

I doubt they’re all-all of them-out to coordinate a message whereby they secretly accept it but instruct each other and their employees to tell everyone they don’t as a part of some grass roots PR Campaign.

But hey...you called BS...

I will say that when I asked my wife prior to posting, she didn’t mention one runs an outside clinic unrelated to their group that accepts it. I believe it’s only once a week or once every other week. So hey...if you wanna rest your call on that technicality, you can. Fine by me.

I am not reading through 5 pages so forgive me if this has been posted already:

This is a case of an overinflated budget, rather than any kind of "cost saving" initiative. It is because the trend in early medicaid expansion enrollment tapered off quicker than they thought. Fewer enrollees = few related expenses.

It's a pretty sweet spin on "not hitting their medicaid expansion targets"

And this story leaves out that there will be a corresponding drop in Insurance Premium Tax. So they won't really have all of that $30 million.

Providers are getting filthy rich off of this welfare program and will throw millions at JBE's re-election campaign.

We should immediately cut reimbursement 20% and tell them to take or leave it.

We will never get healthcare cost under control in this country until the government quits buying it and consumers are free to shop.

Providers want more government money in healthcare and if they insist on that--if they advocate for it with their billions of lobbying dollars--then it is time we put more cost controls in place.

Socialist things so they get the pain with the socialism they advocate for---let's limit doctor pay for those that take medicaid and medicare to say $100K a year. Let's limit hospital charges to $500 a day.

With over 50% of the population receive government provided healthcare of one type or another the providers could decide to take it or leave it. Most of them have fixed cost so high they would have to take it.

These drug companies and hospital companies have gotten FILTHY rich off of this cronyism at the expense of the citizens that pay their own way.

Get the government out of the business of direct purchasing of healthcare TODAY and more to subscription pricing or insurance vouchers where the consumers shop for their care and keep any savings they and the cost of healthcare nationwide will go down in a very big way.

If we are going to keep the socialized medicine then cram the lower reimbursement down the providers throat.

Emergency room visits for uninsured continue to increase....

At a conference two months ago, Jen Steele (Medicaid Director) was asked about the ED numbers, and she said “We were not improving before, and not improving more so now.”
