I got an email from some law enforcement lobbyist group asking me to speak out against the veto. I responded with I will contact my legislator but I will be asking him to vote for the veto reversal, not against it.

You should name what Parrish that group is out of. I'm still waiting on Steve Prator of Caddo to speak up

I'm good with that to not have males competing against females in sports.

I want to protect athletics for our girls. You disagree?

Look for every left wing group to boycott the state. Don’t be surprised if the NFL says no more Super Bowls in NoLa or is the NCAA say the sugar bowl is no longer part of the NCAA playoffs.

Sad that we're here as a country, but I say to hell with all of them. Don't let sports dictate our way of life, or you will have no life worth living!

Hey, we always got the Shreveport Mudbugs to get behind. I'll take the NHL over the NFL

Sure, but I expect the sheriffs and police associations to keep blocking this.

These morons need to be made to understand they are put in place to enforce the laws....not dictate what laws should be.

We need to hear from Sheriff Steve Prator. They are having a tough time with crime the least they could do was make it easier on the people to defend themselves. Hell whatever they have been doing ain't working. Need to at least try letting the people handle stone of it as is their right.

but if it fails, it will be another victory for Edwards over the Republican leadership

quote:

The House is down a member in a Democratic district, which means that seat won't count as a vote for an override. At least one Republican Senator--Ronnie Johns, of Lake Charles--will miss the session

Leadership will need to gain a vote in the House and hold the line in the Senate to be successful in overriding vetoes, facing what is certain to be intense pressure from the governor and outside groups.

Where is that from? How does being down one member change the required 2/3 view because from what I understand its not 2/3 of the members present but 2/3 of the members of Congress.

I just spoke with Connick on the phone and he liked our case I laid out. He said hes leaning on keeping his Sheriff happy but hes got thinking to do. He did say if his sheriff changes his mind his goes with it. Felt kinda bad because hes getting alot of nasty calls. No room for that.

Also called Rep Haferty and they are taking tallies to give her. Today's a good day to call. And I guess call Connicks Sherrif. He seems to be in connicks ear on this

My state rep, Daryl Adams, who is an independent wrote me back and told me he is voting to override both the male in girls sports bill and the constitutional carry bills. Daryl has always had open communications and even when I disagree I respect that.

My state senator, Rick ward, has not written me back. And I am not entirely surprised.

As a glass half empty guy on republicans in Louisiana’s state legislature, I’m fully prepared for this “override session” to be nothing more than failure theater.

I hope I’m pleasantly surprised and JBE learns what real deterrence is as they override as many vetoes as they can.

He deserves and needs that humiliation.

Heh, not putting that on here so I can narrow the search for some loon on this board to track me down.

I did give them a few calls and emails though.

If Louisiana passes the no trans in women's sports act and also passes constitutional carry, Texans can be jealous: we only got constitutional carry. They are too spineless to pass a no trans act in Texas.

Mississippi has been kicking arse and taking names. Currently might be the most free state in the nation. If I was it so tied to Louisiana and my current house purchase, I would buy a bunch of land in the Magnolia state and never look back.

However, what you are going to see here is that 1 or 2 (maybe more but not a lot more....likely Senators that may not be running in the next election or won't be in office next term for some reason) Senators are going to break from their original vote sighting the fact that they have counseled with the sheriff's in their jurisdiction and have come to agree that anyone that elects to carry a concealed weapon needs to have mandated training.

Bam...the veto override doesn't pass the Senate and avoids the politically tricky vote in the House.

I don't have a great read on the tranny bill, but my gut tells me that there have been a lot of calls from a lot of constituents to a lot of legislators in support of that bill.....I'm 60/40 that that veto gets overridden.

Now we are back to the Rs get 1 and JBE gets 1....the agreement that was probably made between him, Schexnayder, Cortez, and the State GOP a long time ago

This pisses me off beyond belief. I don't give a fricking rat's arse about chickswithdicks throwing a ball. I care about constitutional rights. One is, one isn
