Can I just move back to Louisiana, take the $1000 and work a job for a day, then go home?
A few days ago, I heard on the Bongino show where illegals are forming their own construction companies, paying everyone in cash so the workers can get paid and also, keep drawing federal unemployment. So the illegals are double dipping.

Wish somebody would propose no more free shite.
How about this proposal: Earn your own money, or starve. Your choice.

What about the people who have been working all this time??????
Posted on 5/14/21 at 8:12 am to Revelator
They should all be thrown out of office. Is this what I’m cutting my state tax check for?

Louisiana makes me proud to be in Mississippi every day

Screw that...work or starve.

How about you force everyone taking the benefit to sign up for one of the thousands of jobs that can't be filled...two birds, one stone.

This is akin to paying off college loans for people who default and not caring about all who have faithfully paid their loans.

a proposal to offer Louisiana residents receiving unemployment up to $1,000 to go back to work,
You don't need an incentive to get a job. Remove the unemployment benefits completely. The job IS the incentive. fricking politicians are absolutely worthless in this state.

Dumbasses should be giving these bonuses to the ones with the menial jobs that don’t make much to begin with. The ones who stayed employed and worked their asses off to make up for the quitting freeloaders. fricking clown world.

So, LABI is the lobbyists who pushed this. If LABI wants this so bad, THEY should be the ones funding it. Not my taxpayer dollars. Instead, they want to reap the rewards with no risk.

Cool. Plenty of "legals" in construction have been getting paid in cash and sucking in government benefits, for as long as there have been government benefits.

This is some bullshite. Our so called Republicans are nothing but Democrats with an R by their name in the voting booth. They just love to waste tax dollars.

What makes you say it was LABI? NFIB is the only one I see in the article.

This is essentially using taxpayer dollars to fund private business incentive programs. The only reason this was backed, was because LABI endorsed it, and the Republicans in the legislature thinks that LABI is conservative, so no matter what, they support whatever LABI supports.
What our legislature is supporting, is paying for private business incentive programs.
What should be done, is that the legislature cutoff the UE benefits completely, with no carrot to dangle. Then, if private business wants to incentivize employment, contingent upon sustained employment, then that is THEIR CHOICE. Don't force me to pay for your damn employment benefits package. This is nothing more than crony capitalism, and the exact reason why we end up with blue politicians in a red state.

It was LABI. I spoke with one of the few real conservatives in our legislature about it. He's as pissed about it as i am. I'm sure NFIB was the only one vocal about it, but LABI supported it too. Why wouldn't they? It's taxpayer funded employment benefits for private companies.

No.
Republicans are constantly having to reach over to that side. This is just another shitty way to do it.

frickin idiots.
How about just shut off the fricking benefits that encourage people not to find a job?

Just give every person in the state a lottery number for every week of employment they've worked since the whole Covid shutdown started. Guaranteed one winner every week for $1 million, $500k, $250k, $100k, $50k, four winners of $25k. Every single week. The more you work, the better your chance of winning.
$2 million a week, $104 million a year. Would be a hell of a lot cheaper than sending out a half million $1000 checks.
