Saw some folks whining yesterday that the right is trying to eliminate the study of black history because we don't want CRT. Pretty wild people in a country with a whole month dedicated to black history having the opinion that black history is being silenced.

Cool…..but was this actually being taught in Louisiana schools to start with?
I don’t want this shite anywhere near a classroom, but this is more nonsense from Landry that doesn’t touch on any of the major problems in this state.
Economy, insurance, crime, infrastructure are all more pressing problems.
Yeah, this is pretty much me. CRT shouldn't be in K-12 education, but it really smacks of throwing red-meat, feel-good press releases to supporters rather than enacting any real change.

First think this jackass has done that I agree with.

So he’s proactive? That’s a good thing, right?

There is no evidence that any K-12 classroom teaches CRT.
Our school in MS had minority studies as a requirement for a couple years but thankfully it has been dropped

Critical race theory (CRT) is an advanced academic concept that holds that race is socially constructed, and it examines how legal structures are used to oppress people of color. Most classes that take the theory into consideration are in graduate programs at the university level. There is no evidence these courses are being taught to children and teenagers.
So, what's your beef with this? Is it just one of those "wasting time" things? Is that really the biggest deal in the world? Do you think Landry would be doing something else you would more prefer, but for him spending 5 minutes to sign this EO?

Shouldn't the 10 commandments in schools taken care of this?

There is no place in any classroom below the University-level for Critical Race Theory. None. Period. End of story.
There is one....debate class.
Teacher: 'OK, class, under this topic of Reforms in Public Education we're gonna have to deal with a case being run by Peter Prep School's team advocating CRT. Today we're formulating arguments for the file 'CRT is Full of shite'. Copies will be available for all team members."

How do you know? Have you taken CRT classes?
Oh you read one paper.
quote:
CRT starts with the assumption that everything is racist and it's white people's fault.
Critical Race Theory is based on the idea that race is socially constructed, at least that’s what reference books state. Not everything is about you, Mr. White Person.

CRT is a total lie.
Race is socially constructed. Children have to be taught that people are classified by their skin colors.

You can't "teach" when the foundation of your education is built on a lie.
I don’t understand what you’re claiming here. That race is NOT a social construct?

Thankfully teachers never waste people’s time.

I’m opposed to the government constantly restricting what people are allowed to do. Ever since this small government conservative Governor has taken office, he’s focused all of his attention on micromanaging the citizens of Louisiana and telling us what we are allowed and not allowed to do, all the while ignoring issues that actually affect us.
How many of you have been personally affected by CRT being taught in K-12 public schools in La?
Posted on 8/28/24 at 10:39 am to GumboPot
What public school in Louisiana did that take place at?

Maybe Landry will ban teachers next. You should ask him to.

Then why get worked up about Landry banning something that does not exist?

He's only restricting what people employed by the government are allowed to do.
How does that conflict with a philosophy of "small government"?

I wouldn’t say I’m worked up. I’m anti-government so I will always be critical of pointless legislation. Apparently, I’m in the minority here.

Right. Limiting the Government is not small Government according to Cubbies.
