My family left in 2015 and we didn't look back. Will never live there again and couldn't imagine raising my son there. I still have to occasionally visit for work, but it is a shithole. You get what you vote for. That being said, Boulder county and Arapahoe county are running my state...

Same here. I LOVE my home state.
Well, I love the memory of my home state.
And I love my family and friends that still live there.
But it would take something monumental to get me to move back there.
Those of you that live there and are down voting the OP are suffering from Crabs in a Bucket syndrome.

I recall about four years ago I found myself talking to a man at my church. He was orginally born and raised in Houma. He was Oil Field and worked overseas. The gentleman made super good money and the circumstances of his employment meant he could choose to live anywere he wanted. At one point in our conversation I had to ask him why he choose to live in our new adopted state. I'll never forget his answer. He hesitated for a moment then he said,"There's isn't much of a gene pool left in Louisiana, all the gainfully employed folks have left". He and his wife had four children, including two teenage girls. I kid you not that is what the man said.
Fact! Louisiana is not a good place to raise a family.....not anymore. Our choices have consequences. Louisiana choose mediocrity.
Sad!

Been gone almost 25 years.....every time I am back I am reminded of the primary reason
why I left - opportunity.
Rispone looked like a bad campaigner, but his policies had to be better than Edwards. Folks in Louisiana just voted to remain last......literally.

Mediocrity is way above what Louisiana has been choosing

I left Louisiana when I was 19, Ive never looked back and don't think I could ever live there again.
I certainly wouldn't raise my kid there.

Left Louisiana 32 years ago when I joined the Air Force. It was always the plan to go back home when I separated. I decided not to and I’m glad. My mom is still there and I love visiting her. But she’s been there 77 years and understands why I stayed in Florida.

The wife and I left after LSU for Texas.
Came back and tried La. For a few year (Jindal era) wound up going back to TX.
Unless you want to be a plant operator, work in ag, or Walmart there ain't much else.

Much to my wife's chagrin, and knowing the fights that are coming, I will do all I can to convince my kids to move out of this state.

You people are pathetic. Maybe you’re not talented enough for the good paying jobs in Louisiana. Maybe you are just quitters. New Orleans has the 7th largest port in the USA generating over $100,000,000.00 of revenue a year without taking any taxpayer money. New Orleans has the largest building boom I’ve seen in 60 years. Louisiana has numerous natural resources. Why don’t some of you take your “talent” that’s so richly rewarded in Texas and start up something here. The problem is looking at you in the mirror.

You aren't from Louisiana. If you were you would know Creole cuisine and cajun cuisine are not the same thing.

Because they’d be sued for their troubles.
Also LA has 4 industries O&G, Chemical Manufacturing, Lawyers, and Restaurants.
If you want to work in something unrelated to those fields, there are significantly better operations elsewhere WITH better taxes and quality of life

Even that has its problems.
There are so many now that there isn't as much money in it.

That's very true. Little guy's gotta find some miserable niche that'll make you curse the day you decided to go to law school.
