Does his family own the restaurant? His friends? If so, then yeah that is an ethics violation.

On your edit, "friend" is pretty hard to define. If he's been eating there for many years and is in the position he is in, I would say he would meet the ambiguous definition of "friend" with the owners.

Not sure any of this is relevant, though.

The OP is trying to say Schumer endorsing a restaurant is just like Trump and Conway endorsing Ivanka. It isn't the same.

Well this is true. The Ivanka endorsement came as a result of a malicious political attack on Ivanka.

Sales of her brand were down over 30%. But even if it were politically related, what Conway did was still an ethics violation.

This is no big deal and the Ivanka thing was no big deal.

I think the Ivanka thing was even less of a deal, because it was somewhat political. This Schumer thing is a straight up endorsement.
