Why tf would French billionaires care about Flint, MI? Or Puerto Rico?

I'm American and I can honestly say: I don't give a shite about Flint's water issues. A municipal water issue in a state I don't live in, or even border, has literally zero effect on my day to day life. I don't give a frick. And I'm sure most of Americans do too.

Want to help? You donate YOUR money to it. Or have their politics change. But stop trying to burden the rest of us when we have issues in our own neighborhoods.

My the citizens that have taken over Michigan can get Muslim billionaires to fund the flint issue.

The crying libs don't get to decide what other people spend THEIR money on. How many of the criers have picked up a second job and donated the proceeds?

That's what I thought. Not a single one.

I just read the article titled

There's no white people in flint or Puerto Rico so Trump doesn't care he's sending money to Notre dame. Then you come to find out that the state of Michigan has been holding money set aside for flint. They released 77 million to flint today. The people that write those articles are straight up liars. Flint made their bed let them sleep in it.

Don't really care what French billionaires spend their money on, but don't be so naive on water issues being isolated to Flint.

I could fill multiple pages with these water related issues... but I think the above should suffice.

Do you trust your water supply? Do you really know what's in it? Seriously, do you know? Or do you just trust your corrupt government?

If we are using private well water in a fairly rural area what kind of tests should we have done for ingestion (drinking and cooking with)? Harmful minerals, lead, various toxins? What about if it’s safe to shower with?

What could we expect to pay for these tests? Is there any place in the Baton Rouge area that can do this at decent prices?

The only reason the billionaires are giving money is to be forever attached to history, to be remembered.

Millionaires and Billionaires are not necessarily bad guys.

They built the colleges, libraries, hospitals, and many other things that have benefitted many.

Any local environmental firm can take samples from your well and send off to a lab. Or you can contact a lab and get instructions on submitting your own sample. Just research what type of testing you want done... for metals, dioxins, VOCs, Semi VOCs, explosives, nitrates, etc. Price varies depending on the contaminates of concern.

Look on the EPA SuperFund website to see if one of those are near you... other contaminated sites, formerly used defense sites (FUDS), adjacent military bases, chemical storage, etc.

In my own case in the Heartland... I have four water sources for use depending on need. Main source is deep water well, electric pump with backup battery source for power outages/blackout. That well test clean except for elevated nitrates (farm country). Second source is shallow well with hand pump in the center of vegetable garden. Same test results. Third, creek behind acreage... which test as potable, but high in manganese (long term consumption equals cray cray, metal on the brain). So some serious filtration system needed for that one. Lastly, rain capture system from roof stored in cistern that would need filtering and boiling prior to consumption.

Hope those ideas help. If you need info on FUDS in your area, let me know. I can get that info for ya.

ETA for your specific questions: A standard potable water test is what your looking for. Search "potable water testing companies" in your area. Costs should be less than $150. Additional costs can be expected if you suspect contamination activities may have occured in your area. You'll need to do some research (defense industry, chemical plants, oil/gas, etc.).

I blame Michael Moore and his Roger & Me movie. Flint only knows how to whine.

If your source water are from the aquifer stretching from the Mississippi River in Baton Rouge to the Pearl River in Slidell above Lake Pontchartrain you have access to some of the highest quality water in the world. If you have water issues it’s not from the source, it’s possible contamination issues from the well to your mouth.

the water in Flint is fine to drink and has been for a while

quote:

The city of Flint’s water quality has tested below action levels of the federal Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) for nearly two years, representing four consecutive 6-month monitoring periods. Preliminary data for the first half of the current 6-month monitoring period shows that 90 percent of the Tier I (high-risk) samples collected are at or below 4 parts per billion (PPB), which is well below the federal action level of 15 ppb.

The water has been fine for several years. The remaining issue is the residential piping in older homes. You've got clean water in the main that runs through 100 year old lead pipes once it splinters into neighborhoods. These neighborhoods are largely low-income and minority-populated. People who can't afford to refit their entire plumbing system or refuse to accept the responsibility for it.

Have you watched The Big Short? The guy who predicted the collapse is now heavily investing in potable water!

The Flint, MI issue was not a lack of donations, it was the local politicians failure to collect on residents' past due water bills, much like the Jussie Smollet and (soon to be) Dallas $750 petty crimes. If places elect/appoint SJW morons to places of power this what they can expect.

Well, this is why they need governments to confiscate money from everybody instead of relying on charity. So we can all be forced to pay for places like Flint, MI.

Notice I didn't say "confiscate money from the rich". Everybody.

I love the pledges to rebuild. Marcon saying it will be done in 5 years and "more beautiful than before" worries me some.

I mean this monstrosity is considered beautiful today...
