re: Liberals are saying blacks helped Jones win, okay so where have they been before?

What got Jones elected was principled voters who normally would have voted for Moore sat this election out.
I wouldnt' say I'm much of a principled anything, but that certainly describes me as I would have, for this seat, voted for just about any Republican over Jones...except Roy Moore.

Whites elected him. Just like with Obama, without white votes, Jones loses.
But, whites are the racists.

For a serious response, the dem party is more diverse in positions that Pubs. The state of AL is generally conservative Democratics. Our last Dem governor was in 2003. In our history, we have only had like 5 or 6 Repub’s in the governor’s office. It is the national shift to the left in the Democratic Party that has driven the state red.

Blacks helped because of their large turnout for sure but the depressed white vote was an even bigger key.
If white republicans were proud of Roy Moore on the ballot, they win easily. But as 2006 and 2010 showed, this state is not in love with Roy Moore.

That means that the black vote is the reason Alabama went Republican all these years by staying home.
I mean, obviously. Your point?

quote:It was not actually. Overall turnout is being pegged at around 35-38%. You’ll have to check my math, but I think that would put white turnout in the mid 20s or so. Not high, but not low for a special election.
Turnout among whites was also quite low.

There is undoubtedly shenanigans involved in our voting process these days.
The real questions continue to be: who are the actors, what are their methodologies, what proportion of the tabulation is corrupted, and does that proportion affect the outcome...

98% of registered black female voters went out yesterday. That is record numbers for that sub demographic
Did you mean 48 or 58? I can't imagine 98% of a fairly large population doing anything

SoS on the radio this morning said turnout was 40.5% of registered voters.
Turnout for rural white voters(Moore's bread and butter) was either down or flat. Turnout in the big cities, suburbs, and predominantly black counties was up. That was the difference. Turnout, turnout, turnout. Jones got his people out, Moore did not.
As to the original question, black voters have always been there. They haven't always had a candidate they're willing to go to the polls for. They did for Obama, and they did for Jones.

They turned out at 30% and voted for Jones at a 96% rate
Granted, Moore is a turrible candidate, and it really doesn’t bother me that he lost; but it is astounding that 96% of one race votes the same way every time.
96% of people can’t agree on anything. Less than 96% of Americans probably think we went to the moon or that the Earth is round. Yet, 96% of people can apparently choose the same political candidate.
The amount of groupthink among AAs and the amount of brainwashing by the Democratic Party to convince an entire race of people to always vote the same way is truly amazing. If you’re black and think for yourself, you’re an Uncle Tom. Now do what everyone else who looks like you is doing and vote Democrat, regardless of the fact that doing so hasn’t helped for decades.

Blacks always go Dem...just a matter if they can be pushed to the polls.
It's when the other Conservative Demographics stay at home or vote 'write in' that the Black vote makes the difference. For Trump, they came out...and the Black vote was irrelevant.

I get what you're saying, but it's not like the ALabama Republican party has given blacks reasons to vote for them.
