Sounds like you should mind your own business instead of monitoring the rational option-keeping of other citizens. You can't imagine a world in which an American pursues a foreign business opportunity? In your world, that implies "America isn't good enough you can't get it done here"?
Well said!!

US citizen-thru legal migration and the fact that I have lived in the US for 41 years.
and thus you should have been required to affirm the following statement during the ceremony:
quote:or maybe you had your fingers crossed?
"I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; “

The US doesn’t recognize duel citizenship, and how would you end it if they did?

You can have loyalty to more than one country, as I stated above!

You're a US citizen because of LEGAL migration. Living here 41 years means nothing if you came illegally.
Very true!!

Anyone eligible to vote in a foreign election cannot vote in a US election.
Some countries demand on reaching 18 people renounce one of the citizenship.
Revoke any second passport.
Again it's not saying you can't be a resident, just that being a citizen requires singular loyalty.

I can’t agree with that. There are quite a few people that do business elsewhere and their time is divided equally and if they are paying taxes in 2 different countries then they should have a say so on those countries.

I kinda agree.
My sister in law says she has citizenship in 3 countries
Switzerland Austria and USA… is this even possible? I don’t really care enough to research it but it’s kinda silly

Let’s change it to duel citizenship?

I definitely agree with this one. You shouldnt be able to hold a security clearance with strong ties to foreign nationals. Do you have to have a clearance to be a senator? I sure hope so.

Why not? You pay for it even if you don't reside here.

What do you think this does?
For those who's income is business related, its a far less through jurisdiction.
For decades they have been extremely lax at questioning business expenses and taxable income.
Unlike the IRS

I'd rather abolish citizenship, passport, etc.

So anyone who spends money and is taxed here should vote?
US Citizen benefits:
Voting
Eligibility for Public Office
Passport
That's basically it.
If you vote here, this should be your only citizenship.

Why do you need them then?
Do you realize how crazy you sound asking people to give up their heritage and culture? Would you do the same if the shoe was on the other foot, if you lived in another country for 40+ years after being born in the US?
No you wouldn’t. You would without a doubt claim American citizenship as well.

We are talking about the right to vote in two countries.
Citizenship is not heritage or culture.
It's a civic duty and privilege to vote in and defend that nation.
ETA: Mr. Down voter made it clear what he thinks of the USA.

Well, since the United States ALLOWS its citizens to have dual citizenships, your point is mute!
And as I have stated above, if the USA would ever go to war with Mexico or Mexico tried to invade the US by force, I would pick up arms and defend it!
All you folks bleeding all over the board over this nonsense is quite funny, I can absolutely state that I am more American and love this country more than 90% of the idiots on the left that loath everything this country stands for and live everyday to change it!
THAT is a much, much, much bigger thread than some random guy having dual or triple citizenship's!!

You can’t be a dual citizen. You are either this or that. Not both.
Why? Because you say so?
Let's just take one example...an American marries a non-American, and they at the moment are living abroad because the American is working for an American company in that country. They have a child, born in that country, The child sure as hell can be a dual citizen, and for you to say otherwise just shows how clueless you are.
Now, what about when the child turns 18? There may very well be reasons why, if the child travels back and forth between those countries, he would want to keep both passports. Maybe to avoid having to get a visa. Some countries also require an exit visa. There are various reasons why it could be beneficial, and anyone who has ever lived and worked outside the US...which you obviously haven't...knows this.
